Generally taxi's are a hit & miss experience for me.

I've ridden in many that you'd swear the wheels or suspension is about to part company with the car.

To my suprise, I caught two respectable cabs today.

The first was a G8 Fairlane Ghia and the next was a VE SS (6L V8), who after I showed interest in, wasn't afraid to give it some stick.

Economically, it begged the qn, "Why drive a V8 when it drinks so much more juce?". His answer was that he had a Falcon 6, but missed the powa.

Haha, I think we can all understand that reasoning.

Anyone else been in a standout cab ride?

ive used this hirecar guy for the last 4-5 years now. when it comes to going to/from airport or anything else to do for work its all i use.if hes not avail then theres always someone else in a nice car to pick us up.

dont have any trouble finding my place, know me personally, clean car..and a beer waiting on the ride home haha..

all for not much more than a normal cab.

i actually slept in once and he was bashing the doorbell for about 10 mins till i woke up haha..not to mention other times where ive left my phone in the car and he's run it in for me...

id say one that doesnt smell, doesnt have bead seat covers, when u explain to the driver once an once only were u want to go, and one that just rounds the trip off to the( smallest common donominator)<<<< i.t. geeks correct me if the phrase is correct..

yeah! I have a driver, who if not avaliable gets some1 else on those late fridays nights. cabcharge and VHA cars for the friggen win! last nights was a 300C actually. to impatient to screw around with those IPL guys.

In melb I use this company who offer a awesome service. I have been with them for over 5 years now . They are just excellent. Good cars. drivers who know routes properly and everyhting else you can ask for. I dont get beer like "evade". I am now inclined to get one of those cabs. lol

In sydney though I use the VHx plate cabs and they are so bloody darn good . Dont trust the drivers though. My card had charges so many times that I didnt use so I got back to normal cabbies and use a card only for sydney cabbies.,

But yeah comparitively melb cabbies are awesome. both in cleanliness and maintenance.

Best I have ridden was a Beamer 7 series in sydney. i asked him to drive me around for a bit before dropping me off. lol

Grabbed a cab a few weeks back after a big night, was an old old greek dude in an avalon...as soon as we jumped in he blasted a techno cd he has in the player and drove it to the boards all the way home...! Was dancing ( waving his arms around) with us n everything, best cab to date!

had an indian guy drive us back one night after a late night at a strip joint......good bloke, had a good chat to my mate who was in the front passenger seat.....

i dont get why the v8's for taxi's specialy due to the low petrol supplies......should realy change to something like the prius or the new Tesla Electric 4 door (when it comes out in 2010) :P

he was probably just as drunk as you!

Err, denomination, not denominator.

I refuse to applaud what should be the norm........... ffs a big welldone for being a normal clean human being? don't think so.

Goldplated taxi, with minibar and strippers maybe but for not smelling and having a clean car?

    • If I had "perfect R33 GTR" kinda money I would have bought one of the crazy expensive low mileage HJA cars, but I am sadly not that wealthy. I already picked this car out of various Skylines for sale locally, most of which were worse in some way. Only a few cars were actually better but also more expensive. In terms of buying a motor locally, I at least have the option to inspect it myself and juding the seller as a person, and used or freshly rebuilt engines that some people sell are actually ok price-wise. I knew the car was going to require work, but shit piled up real fast and I haven't even driven 1000km yet as the turbo started oiling like a bitch within a few weeks after I got the car.   I assume it wasn't actually me who cracked it, though there is no way to know when that crack formed and if the previous owner even knew it was there. Buying another 05U Block can be a gamble, yeah, but the cheapest PRP cast block is like twice or more money-wise, and billet is 3 or 3 times as much. For now I am most likely just keeping the current engine, as a rebuild or engine swap isn't happening right now. But I am seriously considering buying a second engine and selling mine in return. Might be a sweet deal at the end.
    • Hi all. I need some help buying the correct size banjo bolts for my 2860 turbos. Because whoever installed them tore up the original part, I ordered new ones of this kind, because I just figured these were the most leak-resistant option as I already had trouble with a shitty braided line. I need to know the thread size of the smaller left hole, that is the turbo oil feed connection. I found out so far that the turbo oil inlet apparently has a 7/16"-24 thread, but I cannot find any listing or description of the thread size on this line. I do not have the original bolts. I tried using the bolts that were in the turbos (the ones that were mounted with the shitty braided line) but they sit very loosely so they can't be the right thread. Means either these bolts are the wrong ones (how do they fit the turbo then? no clue) or the wraparound-lines have a different thread than the turbo oil feed itself. Help is appreciated, asking Nissan directly is obviously not going to work.
    • EDIT: PSA to whoever stumbles upon this thread. It is in fact a crack in the block that caused this concern. Just letting you know. In my case, a few cm long hairline crack going horizontally above the turbo oil feed. Classic RB shit I guess
    • Might as well pop in some cams, head gasket, head studs, and a flex sensor. Full send.
