hi just thought i'd share this

i own an r32 gtst

was driving home last night on springvale road around 12 oclock

where there was this 4wd that was behind me

highbeaming me. keeping in mind that it was only a 60k road.

i tried to speed up but i didnt want to get busted speeding cause was about to

drive past the police station. so everyone time i reached 70 i would brake because i was scared

but at the same time he would creep up even closer then i braked.it was only 2 lanes and there was

a car next to me so he couldnt overtake.

then when the opportunity came for him 3 lanes opend up so he from the far right lane where i was he changed into the first lane(far left) and speed up and changed into my lane again.

i saw him press the brake and though "omg what an idiot to do this"

so i pressed my brake only to find out that he actually came to a complete stop on springvale road

locked my brakes and skidded into the back of his car which happens to have a towbar sticking out.

i got out and said what the f@#k and so on blah blah. said think about it. u went into me.

but i insisted to call the police, yet the police couldnt do anything nor come because no one was injured and no weapons and etc were present. yet 10minutes later the cops ended up coming.

took the stories down as per usual but BY LAW THE POLICE CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. BECAUSE I HIT HIS BEHIND. i was so angry to hear that because all i got is 3rd party insurance.

the police asked him why did he stop and he said " i saw a dog run past" the policemen asked what color was the dog, he replied "black", policemen said always is a black dog.

breathe tested me and him but i think he failed bought him back to the police station

then an hour later i received a call and was asked to come in on tuesday to write a report

and for them to take pictures, they said he was under the influence of alcohol i asked what he blew, which apparently was over the limit.

so hopefully i can get some money to repair my car.

just though i would share this story to the sau members and be safe on the road.

cause i was shattered to see my car damaged the way it was after i spent alot of time

to get it running in good nik so please drive safe fellas and thank you for listening.\

the damage i recieved on my car was ;

bonnet pushed up

light pushed back

gtr grill cracked

indicator mount broken (left hanging out)

bumper is basically gone

intercooler has a massive dent in it

after driving my car today i felt that i lost power, my boost drops down once it reaches peak

and car stalls when braking and clutching in

no worries, dont stress just keep a log of the events etc

he can use his high beam, regardless of speed limit zone, theres no law against using high beam lights, you are encouraged not to blind over drivers, but using them in a 40km/h zone or 60kmh/z or 110km/h zone is fine and acceptable. its your responsibility to keep a safe distance from the car in front so technically its your fault, but if he is under the influence of alcohol then that may instantly void any of the possibilities etc.

he is allowed to stop anywhere on the road in the event of an emergency, ie: i can stop in a 60km/h zone for any reason i see fit as long as my brake lights work.

if you run into me, its your fault you weren't paying attention or because you were travelling too close or too fast.

dont stress at all dude, if they have given him a bretho test and failed, then he is goners and it should be fine

the car will run like a bucket of crap with a hole in the intercooler or any of the pipework

this is because there is a vacuum leak and its basically atmospheric pressure instead of vacuum

so until you have leak fixed or the core replaced it will run like poo

oh thanks for that paul.

im lucky that my car doesnt run that crap but just runs so shhhhiet and feels so wrong

but inspections and report are on tuesday at the cop shop so im hoping all goes well and his

gone for being over the blood alcohol limit.

fingers crossed

depending on how much he is over, they will blood test him, then that can be used in court if the drunk doesnt want to co-operate with car damages..

i think he will be charged for drink driving, wreckless driving, indangering lives, blah blah blah, and you will be left to get money off him to fix your damages, lol which he will only put on a payment plan 20 dollars a month..

2 wrongs dont make a wright so maybe the cops will deal with him an you will be left to sort your own shit out, unless u were injured in the smash, then i think the cops couldnt care less bout you..

always sucks when shit like this happens..

wouldnt it mean that his not suppose to be driving on the road

cause his endagering lives causing an accident

depends what you're wanting out of it

over 0.05 = criminal offence

stack = civil

being guilty of a criminal offence doesnt automatically make you liable in a civil suit

if you dont get anywhere with him find out where he lives and cause the same damage to his vehicle...

Stupid things like this are caused by f**kwit impatient drivers who dont like skylines...

Sorry to hear bout ur car. Doesnt sound tooo expensive...but still this incident shouldnt have happened...

lol was gonna say the same thing though i didnt want to endorse it....just suggest it. :D

hopefully he'll lose is license for a while, have a hard time getting to work or anywhere else for that matter. but by the sounds of it he wont learn anything and drive anyway.

You can't drive with your high beams on when you're behind someone... Pretty sure the law is within 200m...it might even be 400m.

You might be thinking it but it's a stupid thing to suggest on a forum.

Him blowing a alcohol reading of over legal limit would be a problem, his insurance at no point covers him for driving under the influence of any drug or alcohol. Voiding his insurance, make a claim against his insurer and your mechanic should be able to handle the rest hopefully they pay up and then he has to pay them. This is what often happens.

Just thought it would be worth your while as from now on your should keep a daily log on any progress with date! This will help if you need to take legal action.

In regards to the highbeams, you must not use them within a 200m distance from cars infront (i.e on comming or same direction) as it blinds drivers there is a law for this.

Oh I commend you on your driving, good stuff setting a good example for line drivers.

That sucks. But I think you will find he will be charged for drink driving and that's it. He did not cause the accident (even though he was being an ass) and his high beaming did not interfere with your vision as you ran up the back of him.

You will most likely have to cough up for yours and his repairs as you were too close. Keep us posted on how it pans out. Good luck.

I was hit in the rear by a taxi once. I was found to be at fault by my insurance company. Why? Because, technically, I didnt provide him with enough room/time to brake once I got into his lane. Basically, he was in my blind spot, and I cut him off in order to turn right into a street. If this gentleman was driving eratically, quickly got into your lane and slammed on the anchors, you could argue the same point right?

i know for a fact that is true, i had so many people look at my car and shack thier head, know what i did i one time turned around stoped i had mom in my car and called out to the lady is some thing wrong, she comes up and goes yea i got a head acke. i looked at her and i shook my head at her and laughed in her face and drove off, gee why cant they just leave it and not make big fuss by shaking their head and only do it when u look at them so they know, sorry but i hate it

You wont be paying for his damage as he shouldn't be driving at all but not sure about you buddy, like some others says get some legal advice, don't know if u heard of legal aid, they might be able to help.

    • And now to the front.  No pics of the 3 nuts holding the front struts on, they are easy to spot. Undo 2 and leave the closest one on loosely. Underneath we have to deal with the wiring again, but this time its worse because the plug is behind the guard liner. You'll have to decide how much of the guard liner to remove, I undid the lower liner's top, inside and lower clips, but didn't pull it full off the guard. Same issue undoing the plug as at the rear, you need to firmly push the release clip from below while equally firmly gripping the plug body and pulling it out of  the socket. I used my fancy electrical disconnect pliers to get in there There is also one clip for the wiring, unlike at the rear I could not get behind it so just had to lever it up and out.....not in great condition to re-use in future.
    • Onto the rear lower shock mount. It's worth starting with a decent degrease to remove 10+ years of road grime, and perhaps also spray a penetrating oil on the shock lower nut. Don't forget to include the shock wiring and plug in the clean.... Deal with the wiring first; you need to release 2 clips where the wiring goes into the bracket (use long nose pliers behind the bracket to compress the clip so you can reuse it), and the rubber mount slides out, then release the plug.  I found it very hard to unplug, from underneath you can compress the tab with a screwdriver or similar, and gently but firmly pull the plug out of the socket (regular pliers may help but don't put too much pressure on the plastic. The lower mount is straightforward, 17mm nut and you can pull the shock out. As I wasn't putting a standard shock back in, I gave the car side wiring socket a generous gob of dialectric grease to keep crap out in the future. Putting the new shock in is straightforward, feed it into at least 1 of the bolt holes at the top and reach around to put a nut on it to hold it up. Then put on the other 2 top nuts loosely and put the shock onto the lower mounting bolt (you may need to lift the hub a little if the new shock is shorter). Tighten the lower nut and 3 upper nuts and you are done.
    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
    • OK, so a bunch of trim needs to come off to get to the rear shock top mounts. Once the seat is out of the way, the plastic trim needs to come off. Remove 2 clips at the top then slide the trim towards the centre of the car to clear the lower clip Next you need to be able to lift the parcel shelf, which means you need to remove the mid dark trim around the door, and then the upper light trim above the parcel shelf. The mid trim has a clip in the middle to remove first, then lift the lowest trim off the top of the mid trim (unclips). At the top there is a hidden clip on the inner side to release first by pulling inwards, then the main clip releases by pulling the top towards the front of the car. The door seal comes off with the trim, just put them aside. The the lighter upper trim, this is easy to break to top clips so take it carefully. There is a hidden clip towards the bottom and another in the middle to release first by pulling inwards. Once they are out, there are 3 clips along the rear windscreen side of the panel that are hard to get under. This is what the rear of the panel looks like to assist:
    • Yes. Autos typically work from the speed sensor on the pinion shaft of the diff. I also think that even if you have a proper speed sensor for the bog manual in the manual box, that the signal it outputs is not compatible with the auto dash anyway. You should consult that manual (the book, not the gearbox).
