Okay well i got a GTS rb25de r33 s2.

i got a few problems just wondering if anyone can help out.

i know theres been a few posts on some of the issue but itheres some that i cant find. so i thought i chuck them all in one.

1. Sometimes i hear a sort of ticking or bubbling sort of sound from the car when idling and dont know what it is?? coming from drivers side under the dash towards the back.

2. Fuel consumption is shit...approx 300-350km a tank!! :S

so im getting it serviced at MIDAS this week should i ask them to check the :

spark plugs, fuel filter/pump, o2 sensor...

cause i dont want to ask them to check it and then have them assuming i think i need something replaced so they can charge me for parts when i dont need them. & would they get hold of a NGK sensor or me or would i have to??

p.s im getting it serviced so would they do that for me?

sorry with all the questions just dont want to spend unncessary $$$ when i dont need to.

You're about to make you first mistake.

Take it to a w/shop that knows imports, someone like Sabbadin, RE Customs, Racepace, etc. (these are all on that side of town)

The bubbling sound could be various things, so go to a good w/shop and get it checked out.

yeah thast what i thought..can you reccomend any in S.E suburbs???

reason im going Midas is mum got a discount thing there feww service or something so then id have to just pay for parts..but yeah i was thinking it makes more sense go somewhere that knows imports.??but where in S.E

NVCS solenoid?

Does it do it when give it a little poke of the accelerator?

Do a search buddy, the w/shops i previously mentioned are all in the east/ south east area. I am from the western suburbs, so i have no idea what the addresses to these w/shops are.

what type of driving are you doing to get that sort of fuel consumption? i get exactly the same from around town driving (largish country town, lotsa roundabouts, lotsa 50-60k zones

i get the ticking sound, however its inside my engine bay. thinking it could be the injectors. any ideas? (sorry to hijack this thread)

on the back of the intake chamber (nearest end to the fire wall) is a brown two pin plug and a purple two pin plug.

on the forums here on how remove/clean/reinstall this device.

get your spark plugs gapped down to .8 or when it goes for the service get them to put in new ones gapped to .8 not 1.1

dont be particular i have run platnum/ iridium bosch and ngk and i have found 5 dollar ngk's do the same job.

check all your vaccum lines for cracks and deteriation, over time they get brittle, may look ok but leak like a mo'fo.

i had a similar sound coming from my car when the engine change was done, the heater hose was airlocked

as for GODZLR, check your pcv valve, undo it plug the hole and start the car up. if the rattle aint there the spring in the pcv valve is screwed.

Japanese Auto Importers in Carrum Downs is pretty good.

The place isn't as tidy as many mechanics, but the owner is really genuine guy, and a Skyline lover. He really knows his stuff, and inexpensive too.

The number is; (03) 9775 0593

And it's at 37 Frankston Gardens Drive, Carrum Downs.

Bleed your cooling system, with your heater turned on.

You have air in the heater box in side the car by the sounds of it.

Then just get a normal service.

Edit: Injectors are usually noisy too I've found on most Skylines, and "tick" quite loudly.

    • I mean, I got two VASS engineers to refuse to cert my own coilovers stating those very laws. Appendix B makes it pretty clear what it considers 'Variable Suspension' to be. In my lived experience they can't certify something that isn't actually in the list as something that requires certification. In the VASS engineering checklist they have to complete (LS3/NCOP11) and sign on there is nothing there. All the references inside NCOP11 state that if it's variable by the driver that height needs to maintain 100mm while the car is in motion. It states the car is lowered lowering blocks and other types of things are acceptable. Dialling out a shock is about as 'user adjustable' as changing any other suspension component lol. I wanted to have it signed off to dissuade HWP and RWC testers to state the suspension is legal to avoid having this discussion with them. The real problem is that Police and RWC/Pink/Blue slip people will say it needs engineering, and the engineers will state it doesn't need engineering. It is hugely irritating when aforementioned people get all "i know the rules mate feck off" when they don't, and the actual engineers are pleasant as all hell and do know the rules. Cars failing RWC for things that aren't listed in the RWC requirements is another thing here entirely!
    • I don't. I mean, mine's not a GTR, but it is a 32 with a lot of GTR stuff on it. But regardless, I typically buy from local suppliers. Getting stuff from Japan is seldom worth the pain. Buying from RHDJapan usually ends up in the final total of your basket being about double what you thought it would be, after all the bullshit fees and such are added on.
    • The hydrocarbon component of E10 can be shittier, and is in fact, shittier, than that used in normal 91RON fuel. That's because the octane boost provided by the ethanol allows them to use stuff that doesn't make the grade without the help. The 1c/L saving typically available on E10 is going to be massively overridden by the increased consumption caused by the ethanol and the crappier HC (ie the HCs will be less dense, meaning that there will definitely be less energy per unit volume than for more dense HCs). That is one of the reasons why P98 will return better fuel consumption than 91 does, even with the ignition timing completely fixed. There is more energy per unit volume because the HCs used in 98 are higher density than in the lawnmower fuel.
    • No, I'd suggest that that is the checklist for pneumatic/hydraulic adjustable systems. I would say, based on my years of reading and complying with Australian Standards and similar regulations, that the narrow interpretation of Clause 3.2 b would be the preferred/expected/intended one, by the author, and those using the standard. Wishful thinking need not apply.
    • Yes they do. For some maybe. But for those used the most by abusers, ie Skylines, the numbers are known. The stock eyebrow height for R32/3 Skylines is about 365/375mm or thereabouts. The minimum such heights are recorded in adjacent columns in the database.
