after reading a thread about someones car which had rattles in it the other day...i forget who it was... this made me remember that i had a few things which needed to be taken out from inside the body of my car, after a lazy stereo install....mostly 2 bolts and a few washers.... I took out the back seat etc etc and then took of the trim from the back, the one round the back windows...after i found these bolts and washers i took the car for a bit of a burn to see if i had found all the rattles. I did this with no back seat..

and to my pleasnt suprise one of the computers in my boot makes this cool "SSHHH" noise when ever i depress the accelerator pedal. Now i dont want to put the back seat back in cause it will muffle the sound :(

If any of you guys take out your rear seat take your car for a drive and see if yours does it to.... ;)

thanks

thats ur hicas computer... i always wondered where that annoying sound was coming from... ever since i took the rear seat out theres an annoying shhhhh sound coming from the back that gets louder the faster u go.

Are we sure we're all not talking about magnetic/electrostatic interferrence coming out of your rear speakers?

Does the 'ssshhhh' tone change accoring to your revs? If so - sounds like you need some shielding.

Before the stereo was graciously removed from the Lada by one Collingwood's finer residents - it sounded like George Jetson's car (the amplifier was the culprit) whenever you accelerated. No computers in that car :(

i dunno man, ive never heard that problem before

it isnt a problem, ive heard one of my friends parcel shelf making a sound like that when i was in his back seat, now i know what it was.....oh and before i forget i have to do something

computer in the boot???

nope its 100% not coming out of my speakers. and only started when i took off my back seat, my stereo was off as i was listening to the sound too, ive heard this intereference before and it aint that. :(

HAHA!!

computers indeed.

Fuel pump is indeed what it is... You's are funny!

i dont even need to take out my seat. I can hear mine whining bad all the time.... but then. It's a decent one, and you can't have more fuel if your pump is quiet.

Well, that's what i reckon anyway ;) LOL!!

And funny to see how JET hasn't been back to whore this thread since he was

:owned:

:(

bonehead !!!! hehehe

i had no speakers in the car... i removed them... still does it.

yeah i thought it was the fuel too... which is why it was getting louder the faster i went.

ey i just got home

i dont get owned by any1...u call it a fkn computer, that controls friggin hicas, get real, then its a fuel pump..cant u tell the fkn difference....:(

maybe u need to get some mods so u dont have to pretend ya "computer" in the boot is a little fulsic bov areh haha

    • Yeah, it's getting like that, my daughter is coming over on Thursday to help me remove the bonnet so I can install the Carbuilders underbonnet stuff,  I might get her to give me a hand and remove the hardtop, maybe, because on really hot days the detachable hardtop helps the aircon keep the interior cool, the heat just punches straight through to rag top I also don't have enough hair for the "wind in the hair" experience, so there is that....LOL
    • Could be falling edge/rising edge is set wrong. Are you getting sync errors?
    • On BMWs what I do because I'm more confident that I can't instantly crush the pinch welds and do thousands of USD in chassis damage is use a set of rubber jacking pads designed to protect the chassis/plastic adapter and raise a corner of the car, place the aforementioned 2x12 inch wooden planks under a tire, drop the car, then this normally gives me enough clearance to get to the front central jack point. If you don't need it to be a ramp it only needs to be 1-1.5 feet long. On my R33 I do not trust the pinch welds to tolerate any of this so I drive up on the ramps. Before then when I had to get a new floor jack that no longer cleared the front lip I removed it to get enough clearance to put the jack under it. Once you're on the ramps once you simply never let the car down to the ground. It lives on the ramps or on jack stands.
    • Nah. You need 2x taps for anything that you cannot pass the tap all the way through. And even then, there's a point in response to the above which I will come back to. The 2x taps are 1x tapered for starting, and 1x plug tap for working to the bottom of blind holes. That block's port is effectively a blind hole from the perspective of the tap. The tapered tap/tapered thread response. You don't ever leave a female hole tapered. They are supposed to be parallel, hence the wide section of a tapered tap being parallel, the existince of plug taps, etc. The male is tapered so that it will eventually get too fat for the female thread, and yes, there is some risk if the tapped length of the female hole doesn't offer enough threads, that it will not lock up very nicely. But you can always buzz off the extra length on the male thread, and the tape is very good at adding bulk to the joint.
    • Nice....looking forward to that update
