Hi all,

I've nearly got the bastard up and running so im wondering what other ppl are running, where they got the gear, what they think of there setup's, and who they got it from.....

im using a T70 comp unknown specs with a T3 exhaust housing. 50mm external gate profec B spec 2 boost controller and Power FC computer

stock suspension for now as im researching and am getting DBA slots and EBC green stuff for pads (F) and DBA slots and EBC black stuff ®.

interested to know what people have experienced with power FC's on and off the track as i hear they have a problem with idle and AC???

Cheers JimmiB

So you just want to know the setup and cost of every BNR32 here...?

power fc D jetro = 1125

wheels = 2800

cusco coilovers = 2000ish

bosch 044

surge tank

total = 350ish

GARRETT gt3540R (.78 DIVIDED exhaust housing)

Intercooler

Intercooler piping

Tial 44mm external gate

manifold

Dump pipe

screamer pipe

braided lines

Total = 3000ish

Hks step 1 camshafts 264/264

HKS adjustable camgears

SARD 800cc injectors

Blitz ID3

Total = 2500ish

most parts were bought of interweb forums which saved me a few buxs

car made 316kw with 16psi worth of boost

16psi was made at just a tad over 4000rpm

im using a power fc D jetro and ive got no problems with it at all

car is a full time daily by the way

You hear wrong. I personally wouldn't be risking a $4000 motor with a T70

depends on which brand T70

but if i thinking about the same T70 ur thinking of i wouldnt recommend it as well

Its together James...together...ok

I was thinking the same thing...

My bet is the T70...and yes im thinking about the same kinda T70 as everybody else...Will make less power than the stock Twins.

Who told you that PFCs have Idle Probs???....never heard of that before

PowerFC having problems in general would be news to me!

I cant see how in 2008, after so many threads on this forum and general market use, that people could possibly say PowerFC's have problems.

Its the CARS that have the problem, not the ECU.

If a cars IAC valve is broken etc, of course its going to have problems, thats not the ECU's fault, never will be

as the others have said the PowerFC is fairly bulletproof, if you want to do some reading and have a few hours spare, check out

http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/...powerfc-faq.htm

this will cover any questions you have on the PowerFC and anything else you might face later on

in regards to the T70 if its the typical ebay spec T70 its probably junk and i wouldnt bother

as someone else said, the std twins probably make more power and resposne

on my 180 i started of with a power fc D jetro but i did start running into problems with it later on down the track when the car became more of a race type car

the problem i had with the power fc was that it wasnt able to control external parts such as nitrous, ignition system such as MSD, 2nd set of injectors, launch control (it had one built in but didnt wanna use the built in launch control in the power fc because i had to plug a laptop in to use it every time) and my main problem was the power fc could only hold 1 map every time i wanted to run race fuel i had to plug a laptop into the power fc and load in another map from the laptop

the power fc was great when all i needed was an ECU that could control the engine but once u start throwing in more and more stuff the power fc isnt able to control them because of this i ended up removing the D jetro and upgrading it for a haltech E11v2

my car runs on 2 different fuel types

standard fuel tank is for pump gas and my fuel cell is for race fuel

engine has 2 different set of injectors per cylinder

800cc injectors used for pump gas and 1000cc injectors used for race fuel

i can now switch between 2 different tunes via a switch inside the car and swap between different map's for each type of fuel

i neva intended on going this far with the car which is why i bought the power fc D jetro

its a GREAT ecu if ur looking for a ECU to control the engine

my R32 on the other hand is my daily driver which is why i went with a D jetro

i was happy with how the D jetro perform on the 180 so i knew wat ecu i wanted for the GTR

the only problem ive eva run into with a normal power fc and Z32 afm was on my mates 180sx

air would push back out the other way of the intake pipe and back out the afm low down in the rpm range so every time u took of the car would have this little ruff take of wat he had to do was put another bed in the intake pipe but it wasnt as eazy as that because there was no room for a bend in the piping so all he does now is give it abit more rev's when taking of

other then that there was no other problem with the afm version power fc

all up i would recommend the power fc if u want is a ECU which can just basically take car of the engine

thanks for the answers guys given me something to think about

With the turbo i am told it is supposed to be the equivilant of the twins but the reason it is there is the STD twins were blown and i didnt have access to any "new" ones looks like it was a good thing i kept all the STD twin setup i may have to find some stock replacements then hmmmmmm.

Thanks heaps again guys

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
