Hey,

Was driving on the monash freeway today (8:30am), just before the Springvale rd exit. Construction is happening between that area and roads are limited to 80km/h.

With all the rutts in the road etc, a rock got flicked up and smacked into my windscreen. I now have a lovely stone chip 1-2cm in my wind screen...

Is there any way Vicroads will cover for the cost of the window?

There were no signs showing loose stones and it seems to be caused due to their negligence.

I have heard of people being compensated for damaging rims in pot holes etc, but what about windsheilds?

Sigh...

Thanks for help

mm would have prefered the rock to smack the paint work instead. Windscreen is just troublesome, especially with the r32's which have an inbuilt antenna in the front window ($$$)

Gonna go speak to Obrian and ill drop by vicroads and have a chat there too.

There goes my studying for today ~_~

Let me know how you go. My windscreen cracked at sandown on the weekend. It spread heaps with the force on it on the fast straights.

I was just thinking of getting one without the antenna. I don't listen to the radio anyway.

Try Novus windscreens. If it's small they might be able to repair it instead of replacing it.

Not a good chance of getting compensated at all, VIC roads/counsels take no responsibility for those things. I know some insurance companies offer windscreen cover and tack the additional cost onto your premium, only about $60- odd dollars extra. maybe have a look into that for next time. Good luck, hope its not to expensive for you.

Cheers

yeh i had to change my windcreen as it had to many scratches and wont pass a rwc

so i just got my windcreen mate to put one without an antenna cost $195

rather use the money to buy more cds/mp3s then listen to the shit thats on teh radio now :D

Yeah mine cracked a while back too at Calder. And I just replaced it with one without the antenna. I still get reception but its fuzzy on and off.

It may also be cheaper to get a normal windscreen plus some internal antenna box.

ended up speaking to Vicroads in Oakleigh.

The inspector told me to go to East Burwood Vicroads and speak to one of the people "upstairs" at the place...

Went to Obrian windows which said they can fix the crack.

$100 + 30mins later, stone chip has disappeared.

What they do is make a vacuum in the crack and inject it with plastic. There is a small spot left behind (like a water spot) but barely noticeable.

Beats paying $600-$800 for a brand new antenna windscreen :D

Cheers

They probably won't do mine because it's almost in the direct line of sight. Also it's about 10-15cm long now.

Nick, does your windscreen mate still do it? 195 is a good price.

Yeah you are going to loose you radio antenna. Unless you buy a Genuine Nissan windscreen.

Obrians re-glassed my winscreen for about $330.

Im not too fussed about the antenna as I don't listen to the radio. LOL! My back speakers don't even work. Just listen to the turbo noise.

reason why the rear speakers dont work is because you have an aftermarket headunit. Under the parcel shelf is a standard silver amplifier which connects to the rear speakers. This amp is only turned on by the stock headunit.

Instructions here;

Real hard to spot the fix outside the car, but inside you can see a little white dot.

Ill send am email to vicroads anyways and see what they reply with

Oh really?!

LOL! Never new that.

As you can tell a sound system to me in a car in not that much of an issue but still having a sound systems makes those long trips not as boring.

I'll have a read!

Thanks Rekin

BTW Altezzas rear lights SUCK! :worship: Unless on an Altezza itself.

public liabilty is part of the road works quote!!!

and yes you can see the job organiser and yes he will re-emberse you..

but should of shown him the crack..

good idea, although it would be quite hard to pull over on freeway during peak hour and they also turned the emergency lane into a freeway lane lol.

Hopefully ill get a reply from vicroads? Have a feeling they will junk my email lol

f*k vicroads, you honestly think there gona chase you to pay for a windscreen thats not even there problem??

there are a few site entry places on the road works, just pull in were you can and ask to speak to the forman, then you will passed on to the next highest person and then the next highest person, untill you get to the boss...

public liabilty is what makes these 10billion dollar roads worth what they are..plenty of money is compensated to the public for even the dust that gets all over your car when you pass threw these job sites..i say stuff em and get whats owed to you and if you can get more...

i no my tax money has just paid for your windscreen if you get re-embursed, lol so a thanks would be nice :D

    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential. The roll bar was built by Jason Noren Fabricaiton in Pomona California to SCCA and NASA Specs. The car used to compete in redline time attack and global time attack enthusiast class. It also has a fire suppression system.  The car is with me at my workshop in Kyle Texas, USA. Shipping it is no problem, I can personally deliver the car to the port of either Houston or Los Angeles. Any other port depending on where it is may require transport but we can always work that out.   The chassis itself is rust free, rear quarters and under fenders are free of any rust so it's a very solid foundation for anyone who wishes to move forward with it. As posted and at the asking price of $20,000 USD the car includes all of the following;   All OEM Body panels, front fenders, rear bumpers etc.  OEM Nissan Projector headlamps (Pictured N1 lamps were removed) OEM Nismo Side Skirts / Extensions OEM Rear Spats  Front & Rear Subframes are installed car is full roller Rear Subframe has Cusco Camber Arms, Whiteline HICAS Elimination Front Subframe has Whiteline tension rods and whiteline Sway bars w/ endlinks.  Buddy Club N1 Coilovers All chassis wiring and engine wiring is in tact. Attessa System is fully in tact and was functional before engine removal.  BCNR33 GT-R Brembo Brakes F+R with Endless MX72 Plus Pads, DBA Rotors & Stainless Steel Brake lines Billion Racing Radiator Billion Radiator Hoses Fluidyne Engine Oil Cooler Accusump System (trunk Mounted) 5 Speed Transmission w/ Transfer Case F+R Prop-shafts Rear Differential With rear Axles.  Nismo Gauge Cluster Nismo Clutch + Flywheel   Essentially what is needed to make this car running and driving again is as follows: A working Engine, an ECU, and time to put it together. The price posted is or best offer as I am willing to remove some components to accommodate price to a certain extent. If any serious buyer wants full detailed pictures, videos, or any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I believe this car is priced to move quickly considering it's a rust free and very straight chassis but always open to fair negotiation.  I can be contacted via phone or email. • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
    • Some more info I found.  These are the last entries Yoshikiyo Fujii made on his blog before he passed away in 2009: http://blog.livedoor.jp/fujii_dynamics/ And finally this is where the workshop was situated:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HhTPtHzt3WVcBTiEA
