A very sad weekend for Motorsport

In a very sad weekend for Australian motorsport, there were two on-track deaths this weekend.

Stuart McColl died at the Procar meeting at Phillip Island yesterday,

And Frank Hunt died at the state championships at Wakefield today.

Frank was running a combined touring car in the same race as my daewoo, we have raced a number of times in the last 2 years.

Motorsport is meant to be fun.... not this.... Damn it !

We all take risks when doing something we love thats so dangerous, but at least they died doing something they both love

Like chaos says below, he was hit from behind, must be incredibly hard for the bloke that hit him.

Small (and sometimes large) taps happen all the time, comes with close racing. You try not to think waht can happen if you go the wrong way at the wrong time

Your right duncan he was hit and slammed into a wall. News said he died on impact.

Very sad indeed, makes ya think, even on the track when ya being as safe as you can be,tragic accidents can still happen.

My condolences go out to the families of these guys. It is a sad day for motorsport,and it's sad that such a passion for racing can lead to something so tragic. Its a comfort to know they parted this world doing what they loved.

Over in the UK I cant say I have heard of these guys , but its a solem hour when you hear of such things.

My thoughts are with the families of the people concerned.
