Full of cheap plastic, vibrates on idle, loves to understeer, automatic isnt responsive. It jumps to a lower gear for no reason and makes a lot of noise but still doesnt move anywhere.

Isnt even fuel efficient, manual says like 6lts/100km. Ours averages like 8~

I remember having it as a hire car for 2 days and I did a lot of driving in it, I didn't like it much, I found the driving position not that comfortable, the manual gearbox was *ok*, but not good.

Didn't like the seats either, I'd much prefer a mid 90's pulsar personally

Mum has one, manual. They have tall gearing to improve fuel ecomony in the manuals, kills acceleration. I thought the excel she had befored was a better car/shopping trolley, but getz has more goodies.

i used to drive manual getz all the time working for a rental car company.. there awsome for

1. 13 inch tyres bounce off kurbs with no curb rash

2. spins first n second in the wet

3. awsome hand brakes good for fish tailing arab styles

buy it n then drive it like u stole it n cash in on that unlimited warrenty :D :D

Anyone Considered Mazda 2s?

My gf has one, very comfortable for 4 people, huge boot (ive put a motorbike in the back of one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), the gearbox is nice, ive driven it up bells line and it was suprisingly chuckable and felt confident on the road....

Around town its smooth and easy, farken good on fuel too!

go the Jazz!!!!

cons: pricey, people bag you for driving a girls car, slow acceleration compared to the skyline (ofcourse), 2 airbags, parts (if anything)

pros: even the 1.3ltr engine is very farkin smooth!!! lots of space for a family, great driving position, very comfortable car to drive, abs and.............

FUEL CONSUMPTION: Average of 5.6ltrs per 100km

lowest i got it was 4.2ltrs/100 on the fwy. Highest was 6.1ltrs/100

so glad i didnt go for the swift, getz, barina

and makes driving the skyline more fun on the weekend

the seating position annoyed the hell out of me, it was either uncomfortable arms or legs. Had to sacrifice one for the other lol

Folding down the rear seats makes it a great car to carry around skyline parts (boot lids, set of wheels) :stupid:

ours has lasted from brand new in late 96 till now on the same spark plugs.

It's a disposable car like those disposable camera's you could buy.

$13990 brand new,had it for 11yrs,almost 12 so it works out to roughly

$1200 a year which is not far from what their worth nowadays.

Never give them respect and you'll never loose respect for it.

i've driven a rental getz, and I loved it...its great as a little town zipper.

Same! I liked the ones I got too... they were great little cars, easily got up to speed and kept up with all the other cars on the Gateway as well as overtaking etc.

Get a manual though. You want to be able to chuck it back a gear on the hills, that's where I found it struggled... I almost had to stop and put it back into 1st going up Mt Cootha with 3 of us in the car including my 100+kg brother LOL

But I would think it would be the same with any of those cars..

Barina is also $14990 drive away these days.

well if you're looking into things as gheyz as getz etc, might as well go the whole handbag.

Barina is just a facelifted 2002 daewoo Kalos. dont buy one buddy! Buy a new yaris. better quality of build than the Getz, and comes with "service advantage" basically every service up to 60,000 is $120 each [full parts/labour]. Plus Re-sale is better..

Hey Guys,

Honestly Its a 13k Korean Car....Can't Expect Much...Right?

Ive Had A Getz The Thing Started Too Fall Apart During The 3rd Year.

Insted Of Jazz's And Barina's Go SWIFT Suzuki Such Reliable Affordable Cars...Plus They Look Good Too!

Jazz's And Swifts Would Be More Reliable Then The Barina And Honestly I Think They Look Better.

Consider The SWIFT. :banana::)

I thought you were 15.

Hahahahahahaahaha he's still in grade 11 and hasn't purchased his first car yet let alone even having a licence. I call lies, lies I say hahaha

Proof? read....http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Wo...ng-t226745.html

Well guys my wife has just put a deposit down for an 11/2006 Corolla Ascent (black/automatic) with 30,000kms and still nearly 2 years warranty left for $15,700. Reckon it was a good deal?

Yeah mate thats fine, Hertz sell them [ex-renters with 25-45 klms] through Fowles auctions at not much less than that, say $14,000-$15000. then on roads etc... check for history though, toyota wont cover a car unless it has service history and a few have gone up in smoke due to 30,000klm old oil that is too thick and sludgy for the oil galleries...

Cool.. just wondering with new car warranty do i have to take it to somewhere like an ultratune for scheduled servicing rather than do it at home like I normally do?

you need to use genuine parts, and have an itemised receipt for service carried out by a qualified mechanic if its not serviced by toyota.. If you go to make a major wty claim, these things will be checked..

    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
    • Welcome mate. Any pics? Even with a DE I'd be well happy if I had that as a 1st car.
