Sly33 have you tried pushing anymore than 16.5psi? I thought these turbos would take 18-20psi on an RB25? That said I will be happy with 280rwkw if I can get it:)

yes, in my application it would not hold anymore than that boost. which gets me to thinking that its pretty close to its potential. 280rwkw works out somewhere roughly round 450+/- hp at the fly, seeing as the turbo is rated only at 420ps, that sounds about right.

i can squeeze more boost in the midrange, but as it revs out the boost drops back to 16.5. I havent gone to lengths such as wiring shut the wastegate or anything like that, as ive heard some have done to get to the 300rwkw mark with this turbo. thats gotta be pushing it, and ive been happy with the 280rwkw. The stock honed ex manifold is purely just for experimentation rather than chasing more power!

Ill leave the car as it is until i put a 26 in it, and then sell off the whole running forged rb25/2835pro setup, including literally everything, injectors, tuned power FC etc.. anyone who wants this setup down the track keep mine in mind :woot:

Seem like a real solid turbo for the RB25DET.

Question. You guys running on MT or AT ? Cos I wonder how will the AT box that this turbo.

MT all the way baby :(

weird how it wouldn't hold boost... mine is pretty happy @ 20 for a most of the range... what bc are you using?

remember that running more boost isnt necessarily good, especially if one setup is making more power with less boost.

sydneykid would tell you mine is more efficient hehe :D

that said though i think my above post relating to the turbo simply reaching its airflow potential sounds about right. I had exactly the same deal when trying to push the 2530 (using an e-boost).

now running a blitz spec-r ebc.

had a close look at your car while i was there man.. very nice :)

rob was telling me about your car, sounds really good congratz on that!!

Now i needa get my car going agen :) 3076R .82 and try reach the 300kw mark agen :D

thanx phil!... that setup should see you @ 300 fairly easily i'd imagine...

sly33: true that i'm running a fair whak of boost to get the 265...

but comparing dyno's (to your non built 266 one) i'm getting 170rwkw by the time your's is on 130... who's more efficient now huh :P

Hey Phil car is back on the road mate :)

The run-in tune has been tweaked, but a full tune is still required once i have clocked 1000km.

VERY happy with the result!

rb30det + GT3076R = 304rwkw@16psi with instant response :D

Thats really impressive already - you will be going for 20psi or so? What is your setup, internally gated or a high mount w/ external? Stock or aftermarket plenum?

Thanks.

Full tune will consist of 20psi, setting the adjustable inlet (modified the std gear and maintained the VVT) and exhaust gears, boost controller (as it is currently working just off the actuator), rev limiter set to 8000rpm, more ignition timing and better tune.

All items stated above are subject to gains gained. ie: if no valuable power/torque is gained from increasing boost to 20psi, i will leave it at a reasonable boost setting. Same goes with the gears, timing, and rev limit.

PM sent.

Cubes: the curve feels alot better than it looks too :D

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
    • Not yet quite as bad as what we've seen a Jim Berry clutch do in an R32 GTR though when it decided to cut a chassis rail in half... Still very very gnarly and a great reason to avoid.
