there is a dude, wpnvlt selling what sounds to be a pretty worked up head complete with HKS hi lift cams for $3,200 ono...... there is a thread somewhere

nah for $500 more i can do it our way with parts i prefer to use onthe bare head we have.

thanks anyway

Bottom end assembly pics and details to come soon :P

new head set-up...

1mm oversize inconnel valves

dual valve springs

titanium retainers

Tomei bronze valve guides

Tomei 270 deg 10.8mm camshafts

Tomei 1mm oversize lifter buckets

Red R Racing Stage II head porting and cam lobe clearancing

on a 2.8 litre Tomei bottom end with an N1 block this combo will be awesome

least this way we know it right and we'll never have an issue.... plus this head is done the way that keeps u sleeping at night aswell huh paul lol....

yeah and to think this engine was going to have the final assembly this week....ahh well the bottom end will be ready waiting for the head to be finished.

that list above looks impressive and its something the bottom end really deserves to have bolted to it.

i can sleep now

this engine is going to make more power then yours paul.

You might need to tune it down a bit :O

My car is supposed to be in QLD this weekend but due to everyone elses cars/engines...i don't have time to finish my own.

Everyone elses car first....unfortunately...mine last :(

Mark at Godzilla is excited about tuning this engine package...might have to put the cams a tooth out so it doesn't make more than mine...lol

Righto...some pics

One virgin N1 block, bored 40thou and strainer plate honed

img0907ky6.jpg

honed cylinder...block still has swarf sticking to the outside from the bore job (it was painful to watch a fresh block getting bored)

img0904qt9.jpg

should have used the 86mm bore block in the background and grouted it...would have done the job...ahh well nevermind

img0905ep4.jpg

anyway thats enough of the block...lets see the good bits

img0908rj8.jpg

look at how far out of balance the Tomei pistons were...balance pads completely removed off 4 of them...two of them had their pins centre drilled to remove enough weight to get them right

img0909pi0.jpg

one fully balanced Tomei 2.8 stroker crank

img0914rf8.jpg

balancer grinds...even brand new stroker cranks are out a little

    • I would be surprised if that wasn't the issue. It's probably telling you, that even if you remove the plastic liner, you may have some other clearance issues that may occur too in some scenarios. IE, tyre to guard. It looks like someone has already rolled the lip, but you may still have issues in the future IE, turning and hitting a bump etc. The fact it changes how bad it makes the noise when you are going backward vs forward is highly indicative that it's the tyre rubbing. They do make a terrible sound, even if you're only pushing a project car that has a liner hanging down on a tyre!   Has the car been lowered? If it has been, what is the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the lip of the guard straight up?

    • Mark's a bit smarter than people give him credit... He'd convince the person that is to become dead, to drive him to the forest first. That way his car has no evidence in it, and he's free to dispose of their vehicle permanently how he sees fit too...
    • But if you had to go bury a body in the forest, would you not put that in the boot? Most of them are >=90kg these days.
    • That could easily make a horrible noise. +1 to the benefits of: a) Disclosing all relevant information when asking questions such as these, b) Actually going out and having a look at your own car, seeing as you're the one there, and we're not!
