Roy
Wouldnt have happened if they had Crewman/Navigator/Stuntman/Fearless Brisby as a navigator. Poor Snowy, best he could do was me at short notice after being dicked in the most significant way by someone that should know better! Got the car through Day 1 but the problems just could not be solved in the night....so Cascade Tour was the call for our Sunday. Snowman
if jones doesn't get pinned, everyone is just going to drive through the middle of corners come Targa. I'll be back with more later - but I'll add for now that there was NO mention in any paperwork or verbally in any drivers briefings about the white lines and no corner cutting for TWP this year. Marlin
Well done everyone, been looking through the results and Newton, mate, well done! Brisby, sounds like you did a great job at short notice, for what it's worth I can remember my first nav gig, it was a stress for sure! It gets much easier Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/228058-tarmac-rallying-perpetual-thread/page/64/#findComment-5064481 Share on other sites
navdan
OMG...what a fantastic weekend. Newton is CRAZY and I love it! Just wait 'till he fully gets a handle on the pace notes We were only .5sec/km slower than the Early Mod winners - just a pity we had done 200k competitive Well done to Bris for the short notice call-up...by all accounts you're a natural Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/228058-tarmac-rallying-perpetual-thread/page/64/#findComment-5064548 Share on other sites
Roy
Credit to Snowplough for not following my calls on L4 when they were R3.5 I thought i was doing ok until i watched the vids and he did well not to be confused by my talking...as thats what i did, talk us through the corners (often repeating the same call for an upcoming corner over and over which now i can see could have been rather confusing) rather then call the corners in advance. But, we got through... and its depressing as my car isnt near as cool as any of the cars there Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/228058-tarmac-rallying-perpetual-thread/page/64/#findComment-5064596 Share on other sites
sav man
how much of the rally did you spend telling him how much faster a rb20 would be? Snowman
Big Kudos to Bris from me for jumping in the car. He's are hard judge on himself but I think he did an awesome job and at no stage did any of his little mishaps put me off or put us in danger. Which is probably more than I can say given I chose to keep blazing on even though we knew there was a problem with something at the front of the car. Given what we know now we are both fairly lucky (again!) But I'd happily have the old boy jump in the car again anyday. Well done to Norton and Dan too on a great first up Tarmac effort. Hopefully one day we can all have a good run and have a good ding dong. Oh - and BRING ON TARGA HIGH COUNTRY in Nov!!! navdan
If they use the road from Whitfield to Mansfield for some of the THC stages it will be one cracker of an event :-) Looking forward to you having another good trouble free run Snowy...you were only just off our time on Longley with the control arm broken Bring on the competition...next time were coming with softer tyres Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/228058-tarmac-rallying-perpetual-thread/page/64/#findComment-5064693 Share on other sites

sav man
is that rust in the arm? you think it had a crack you couldn't see for a while? Snowman
Yeah seems like the crack has been there a while and it has finally let go. It could explain the noise we heard but its impossible to be sure on any of this. PHaT MR30
My dad was telling me there was a fair few cheaters down there, scrutineers were targetting a few in particular for fuel testing Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/228058-tarmac-rallying-perpetual-thread/page/64/#findComment-5064755 Share on other sites
sav man
how did the E85 go? I'm thinking of setting up a E85 refil staiton 5-10km from the end of mt arrowsmith this year, as there's no way known a gtr will make it through 53km on a std tank (r32 and it's big tank aside). anyone know what happened to Ayres? There wasn't any menchain of it on Rally Live. Snowman
As far as I know all cars got fuel tested. I was wrapped with that too since it was such a fark around having to get the EXACT right fitting which just so happened to be only available from one person in the country. The funny thing was they rang me up with a panic after my sample because I'd had to use a jug full of boiling water to get my fitting onto my hose and as a consequence my fuel sample was full of water (both ends of the hose had closed ends) so they panicked my car was going to blow up! Snowman
David "hit a bump" on Airwalk and the car just died. I think in the end he said it was a relay that died. PHaT MR30
Expand Hollowneck? A few were running VERY low on 98RON leading up to the stages. Topping up with just enough jungle juice to get through the stage, then splash and dash of 98 to get to the next stage and so on.. Someone cottoned onto this however and a fuel tester was manned at the end of some stages.
