We're out of Lake Mountain due to my chauffeur having to attend a wedding on the Saturday :P

So...I'll do the tour instead for sh1ts and giggles. :D

Update...We're back on for LM! Motorsport is taking precedence over weddings. There is a god :(

Well folks...here its is.

A new event based in Victoria's north east, Targa High Country, will join established events, Targa Tasmania and Targa Wrest Point, in making up the prestigious Targa Triple Crown.

To be based in the Mansfield and Mt Buller area, the inaugural event will be held from November 5 to 7 later this year.

Details of Targa High Country were announced this week by event promoter Octagon Australia, with plans already well under way for what will be Victoria's only multi-stage tarmac rally.

The three-day event is generating strong interest with entries already pushing 100 plus.

Targa High Country will include a street stage of nearly five kilometres through the streets of Mansfield on Friday, November 5, followed by a 'TargaFest' in the main street at Mansfield that night.

The event will see eight stages each day heading north to Wangaratta, via Whitfield, and Eildon, via Jamieson. Both days will end with a 20 kilometre stage to the summit of Mt Buller, where the event will be based each night.

It is envisaged that the full course, along with stage reconnaissance notes, will be released at Targa Tasmania in April.

It has long been thought that a multi-stage tarmac rally was an impossible dream in Victoria.

"Targa High Country has become a reality because of the passion and hard work of the Mansfield Shire Council, Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board, the Rural City of Wangaratta, the Murrindindi Shire Council and the Victorian Police," Octagon's Mark Perry says.

"We would like to thank them all for sharing the vision with us and we hope to make some further announcements in the weeks ahead."

The event entry fee is less than $2000 and offers a competitive distance of 230 kilometres.

Targa High Country will operate independently from any other tarmac rallies in the region.

sso....rallly tas....

who is competing?

looks like the good old days with Jimmy well out in front.

apparently all of the gtrs are having trouble in one way or another. motors blow, little offs etc.

and then there was one....

Definitely not a good rally for the 35s:

11:07am - Leemhus and Ryan in their Nissan GTR R35 off road during Special Stage 14. At tracking point. Both ok.

11:10am - Leemhus and Ryan a long way off road and may need crane to retrieve vehicle.

Tony is the last man standing in the GTRs.

And Jimmy out due to issues with steering rack

Pete's car was looking pretty second hand at the end of the first stage on Saturday morning, had a fence pailing lodged in the front bumper and lots of shrubs hanging out. rear lower Bumper hanging off etc.

Be interesting to see what the engine failures were in the 35's

I have seen photos of TQ's egine on fire and the bits that were left on the road afterwards.

it was a massive let go and claks car was using 4 lites of oil in 60kms so they packed both cars up and went home.

Rumour is he has a new car on the way from Japan as i write this.

From what i've heard, TQ asked the tuner to turn off the knock sensor's because it cost's 25kw's, they were running

335kw's at the tyre's, and when the knock sensor's pick's up knock it drop's to 310kw's, and won't return to the

higher Kw's until the car has been turned off the restarted... this is from a very reliable source, and is also why

Tony wasn't all that upset about it...

    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
    • You think its the AFM? I know its a common issues on R32s. I find it coincidental how this issue raised right after cleaning the fuel system. As everything except the fuel system was fine before. I tried running it with the IACV unplugged but did not notice a difference and still stalled. However, the RPM gauge is not in the cluster right now, so I will need to connect the laptop again and use Nistune to check the RPM. I will check this weekend.
