Not sure anyone is saying the 6 speed is weaker, I get that Snowman had problems with his, and went with the 5 speed for both cost and better ratios.

Circuit racing /= Targa though so using Super Taikyu as an example is probably pointless.

Same basic spec cars, about the same power, so i thought it would be a reasonable example that there is nothing weak about the 6 spd, nor did Nissan engineer down the quality of the drivetrain or later models. With no Grp A like in teh R32 days, and JGTCC so removed from road cars, i suspect Super Taikyu had even more importance to Nissan with the R34

the gearboxes in FD RX7 are clearly far far stronger than 32, 33 or 34 GTR... one day you could all become enlightened and pass over to the dark side !!

that is because a rotor lacks the torque to brake traction let alone gears. :)

Is the Targa DVD going to have any extra content in the main doco than the TV Doco? The doco's 10 years ago were much better, I watched a couple leading up to Targa, and they were longer, and showed a bigger varity of cars. But they did come out months after the event, as opposed to weeks.

I asked to Mazda crew when I was sitting between staged if they carried spare apex seals around with them...they didn't see the humor in it. Any gearbox could last behind a rotor :)

I meant the 5 speed is a benefit not so much because it is (marginally) stronger, but when coupled to the matching R32/33 diff gears they're better imo for this type of motorsport.

Anyway, I couldn't give a shit and am ready and waiting to move on

Roy is talking about anal now, has no one noticed?

Savman, yup, Mt Stuart for the 32. I better get to prepping the poor old girl. Straight after Superlap.

I'd like to apply for a derived time for the hour of my life lost last night and I'll happily take the penalty.

Apparently the Early Modern category (of which the majority of this forum competes in and watches) wasn't good enough for a mention or a final classification on the Doco.

I know not everyone can make it on the doco, but shit to miss a whole category??

as I said before, EM seems to be the black sheep so enough with the bickering... to busy arguing to realise your all getting screwed

was the most entertaining category too... close racing, crashes, mechanical failures and a bit of controversy all thrown in the mix... more interesting than F1 anyday!

Roy that's a disturbingly perfect analogy...

I'm not surprised really.

WOW...Quiet in here :D Even after Bris brought up Anal LOL

So I am finally coming down from the high of Targa...

Whats next for peeps....Hi Country seems so far away :)

Is Classic Adelaide really gone under?? Any more news?? I know some where worried that they have lost there earlier bird entry already.....

    • HELP   Hey all, Is there an accelerator cable from another Nissan that can be used on the R33 GTST RB25DET with a Greddy forward facing plenum?  Thanks in advance  Rob
    • Or do we think it was installed to give 1 bar of boost max, all day, everyday?
    • So could it be assumed it has been installed intentionally with potentially a power FC boost controller kit?
    • Had my rig on Matt's dyno at PITS the other day. After a few years between tunes I added a few sensors and swapped intercoolers. Result. 553hp at 26psi. Not bad for an FJ20 that was built in 2007. The problem.. It filled the overflow bottle on hard runs which leads me to believe the head gasket isn't sealing. I have a coolant pressure sensor which was reading cap pressure at 22psi and occasionally overrunning to 23/24 psi on deceleration after a pull. It was not spiking. It has arp2000 head studs and a cometic gasket. As its been 18 years in service, I pulled the engine out and head off. Everything looks good but we obviously have an issue. Where I'm at.. Years ago I had the same issue, I checked the stud tension and they were all over the place. Some at 60 to 70 and some up near 90. I nipped them all to 100ft lbs and this stopped the water push until now. I believe this compromised the gasket back then. What do I do? 2 options are..  1) I bought arp 625+s, which I could put in with a new gasket. Thinking Kameari this time, reassemble and try again. 2) strip the block, get fire rings machined in with copper gasket and try that. I do not want to push it more than 28 to 30psi. I think the turbo will be out by then anyway. (G30-770). My other concern is the long term ability of a copper head gasket. Are they streetable for years? I feel like a new gasket with the new studs will probably suffice, but I don't know. Any thoughts welcome and advice on copper gaskets and fire rings. Thanks!
    • I'm a fan of the JZX110, and the Aristo. Big cruiser cars, and with the factory cars, super comfortable and feel like you're driving an armchair! And the JZ motors are a pretty nice engine too, especially with some basic mods.   The import process, and the need to be able to trust people, and the fact there's so many scammers around is what ever puts me off wanting to go through that ordeal!
