Lol, what's PC?

Didn't think you'd be up for it Greggy?

"Politically Correct"

May have had a couple of bevvys when I was thinking that lol, but have contacted the Dr to see if he is interested.

I know exactly what Duncan is on about Lol!

Oh and High Country is looking to be the Bomb, shame I didn't know The Woo was going to do it until now.

and heard a little bit more from a reliable source about Rally Tasmania going to gravel (ARC, VRC & TRS). So for any Tarmac fan who enjoyed that event you can kiss it goodbye.

Winter race now to be launched... Targa Burnie. :)

Back in Hobart to feed into the computer what I firmed up with the THC course last week and I've gotta say that since late last year I'd almost forgotten just how good the roads are up there!

The course has a bit of everything for everyone with a good balance of tight and twisty and quick and flowing all with predictable surfaces... and some stunning views for those willing to lift their eyes from the road! There is one road we will be playing on that I told council should be converted into one way traffic with a toll booth as its the nearest thing Australia has to the Nürburgring and a very cool experience that will dominate conversation on Sunday.

Looking forward to getting back up there again later this week.

What road is that Stu???

I spoke about the event with Stu last week, and after seeing his excitement for it and his description that many of the stages are like Tassie's west coast, then I figured I simply couldn't miss it. )

It's a shame that Gavin has Timmy, would dearly like him beside me, but Gavin asked him straight after Targa, before I decided to run, and thems the breaks :ermm:

Don't be sad Timmy :P

So Stu when do we find out the full details for High Country? I need to get motivated into getting a car and the less time I have for motivation the less chance there is I will have the time to get one ready.

Although my motivation/confidence took another hit on the weekend when my good buddy in W.A. Blaise wiped his car out in his first crack at Tarmac Rallying at the new Targa South West on Saturday. Sad to see and now we both find ourselves with a cabin already booked for THC but neither of us have a car!

swap the box, and run the 34 with the dent.

you know I got offered an awesome deal on a new donar R34 on Friday and after looking at the scary list of things I should bring across from the old car I was half tempted to just chuck a cage in and run it otherwise stock for shits and giggles. Its currently got an IMPUL ECU (I think to just remove the limiter??) and an exhaust and other than that its dead stock. Would be amuzing to see how fast it was.

Only problem is it looks so pretty - and its not blue.

Some grandpa in a white Porsche has had a look at the rough course... just like some bloke that reckons he can weld and drive from Burnie

Main bits to check out are up and and a little down the Mount Buller Tourist Road from Sawmill Settlement.

Mansfield Whitfield Road

Jamieson Eildon Road (the awesome one... its still gravel in the middle so don't take anything too new with 30 profile tyres)

and importantly Skyline Road (I know!) near Eildon

Basic recce notes will be available in two weeks with GPS references for TS, SOS, TF and SP.

I'll have that awesome deal R34 then Snowy... Wooster's bodykit is too ghey for even me!!

Anyone want a Bond bolt in cage for WRX? Got one in my office for cheap (painted with feet).

    • After using a protractor for an actually accurate assessment of what is required,  and by NOT using my uncalibrated eyeball I worked out I need a 25° silicone bend from the TB ro the MAF, but, my choice was either a 30° or a 23° (23° is a weird spec), so I grabbed the 23° one from Raceworks I also grabbed 1mtr of 3" straight from Just Jap, I needed 350mm, but they only had 300mm, or 1mtr lengths....meh Also ordered a 1/2" hose bulkhead fitting from fleabay, this has a smoothish mushroom looking head (they are designed for below the water line of boats) that will fit inside the bend, the hose bit and threaded bit looks to long, but nothing that a hacksaw cannot fix if required, the hose will then just get jamed on the threaded bit up to the retaining nut Fingers crossed and the unsightly amount of hose clamps will be reduced down to 4 once all the parts arrive
    • Oil change does not trigger code 21. Code 21 is for coilpacks primary side connection. You can try to clear the code with a battery disconnect, hold down the brake pedal to drain capacitors through the brake lights with the ignition on for 10-15 seconds before you reconnect the battery. I have seen R35 coil conversion permanently cause this code with no ill effects so it might be the resistance it wants to see isn't quite right on one or more coilpacks. Could be inside the ECU, could be the harness, could be a coil. You can test it all if you want or just ignore until the car actually starts misfiring.
    • I forgot you have a Nistune ECU. Use Nistune to do all the tests I mentioned instead of faffing with 30+ year old electrical connectors. You can read MAF volts off that too, there are reference values in the service manual to tell you roughly what it should be in different conditions.
    • No. I think it might be the AFM. Hence the use of the terms "swaptronics", which implies the use of swapping out electronics for the purpose of diagnosis. It's about the only way to prove that a small/niggling/whatever problem with an AFM or a CAS or similar is actually caused by that AFM/CAS/whatever. A known good item swapped in that still gives the same problem is likely to be caused somewhere else. They're all the same. Spraying AFMs with cleaner is an each way bet between cleaning it and f**king it.
    • Oh wow! This might actually work amazingly. Do you know the ratio of the diff? I was told the only thing you need to make sure of is if the front & rear diff ratios are the same. Ours is a 4.083 Thanks!
