2009 Powercruise will be held on Sept 10th -13th!

I'll be there for sure!!

Last year was the first one i missed due to my car being written off!

It's an awesome event, With plently to see and do.

For anyone who has never been and is wondering if it's worth taking your car out.. DO IT!!! It's a great weekend..

100kw to 1000kw You'll still have a ball!

Sure there are going to be cars out there with more horsepower etc, But it's all in fun.. :hsdance:

I cant wait!

Here's some info -

GENERAL INFO

Powercruise offers car enthusiasts a place to drive your tough street, race, drift or show car, in a safe and controlled

CAMPING

Camping is available at all Powercruise events around Australia. We supply hot showers that are cleaned as often as required which is pretty

often considering the large numbers of campers at our events. There are also ample ladies and mens toilets spread around the venue. This

includes both demountable building type toilets as well as portable individual toilets for more urgent matters!!. Camping is available for both

entrants and spectators and can be paid at the gate on your arrival or prepaid on entry forms if required. The Camping fee is additional to any

advertised entrant fee or daily spectator tickets. Camping costs an additional $30 per person for Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night

and is applicable for Brisbane, Sydney and Perth events. That works out to about $13 per night per person. Tasmania and Darwin are the lucky

states because the camping fee has been waived for these events due to the limited number of campers and facilities available at the venues.

We still ensure adequate toilets are available and some showers are also available.

Powercruise does not book camp sites, we don't hold sites for anyone. Camping is a first in best dressed deal. Check the venue maps for the

allocated camping areas please. Some areas are not permitted to have cars in them and some are so please make sure you read the map at

the bottom of this page for all the info.

I would have been there with bell's on but my motor did its bearingson the one dayer and is currently getting refreshed (Second lap which you can imagine Im happy about).

Will probably be there in my mates 26/30 VL Turbo tearing it up the V8's.

This is probably a very stupid question....but can bikes go along to it??

I've never been and am pretty keen to go, in the car or on the bike I don't care lol.

Cars Yes Bikes No

They set up the track at Qld Raceway with racing on the straits and if a hi powered car was to get out of control, well you get the rest.

Yeah I get the whole cars n bikes at the same time is a no go, but was just unsure as to whether or not they had some short spells of bikes only. Oh well, doesn't matter, I'll just take the car! lol

I'm undecided :)

Most of my mates don't want to enter this year cus of bad experiences last year, so we might just head down for the last day or something to watch..?

Still it would be fun to wind out the old girl on the track and smoke some of the local v8's for a laugh :P

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
