Brake Rotor Is 2mm Undersize :o

Recommended Posts

hey guys

i pulled off my wheels the other day and decided to randomly measure my brake discs. they came up 26mm (front discs r33 gtst). dba says minimum size is 28mm.

Obviously I need to replace them, but how dangerous is my car and what can it do? Should I avoid all heavy braking (unless emergency) and race tracks? Or get new rotors today because they could explode any minute?

Reason I ask is because in 1 month I had planned on getting oversized rotors, so i don't want to buy a new pair of rotors for a few weeks driving! Although I do wish to go to wakefield in 1 month exactly, hence the dilemma....

cheers!

i wouldn't be overly concerned for a streeter but i wouldn't track it.

It's pretty unlikely they will shatter or anything catastrophic. Probably warp on a track though.

The problem for track is that they are now weaker and also have less thermal capacity due to having less material left to absorb the heat so you will find that they will be fairly useless if braking hard repeatedly....
