The other day my car started to splutter while driving and i couldnt get power out of it to drive it up my street.

So today i swapped over the fuel pump to a new walbro pump to see if thats was the problem but it hasnt fixed it.

The car at idle is not stable at all it hunts and stalls if it isnt revved at all, it is also blowing some smoke aswell.

I had the turbos replaced a couple of months ago and i havent had any problems until now.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem because i really need my car running 100%.

try take if your cooler pipework, if there is oil one of them then one of your turbos is possibly stuffed. if not you need to do a compression test to see if it is your engine. i think each pot should be around 150 psi but not sure, anyone verify that?

ide also suggest looking at the afm. also wouldnt hurt to take a look at ur coilpacks/plugs. a failing coil, would make the car idle poorly (sound like a wrx, as its runing on 5 cylinders) and would make it run like a dog with 3 legs.

+1 for the coilpacks!

My car was/is doing almost exactly the same thing. Blowing out a bit of black smoke and smelling like fuel when you start it up? My car is at the mechanics now and waiting for a new set of coilpacks to come in. It was fouling the plugs and make the car sound and go like a tractor. Only like 30kmh, misfiring badly, lucky it happened on my street coming home.

My car is doing the exact thing :D

Got another set in the mail.

Just pulled my coil packs off and they look fine. Im glad considering they are splitfires and have only done approx 5000km, i will be pulling out the spark plugs and cleaning the afm's tomorrow night, and also trying to follow the intercooler piping to see if theres a leak. I think ill need to pull off the front bar to see all the piping though.

I just cleaned all my spark plugs thoughly and checked over the coil packs and the harness, the problem is still there. I also had a quick look over the cooler piping and couldnt see any pipes off but i need to take of the plastic guarding to see all of it properly, thats for tomorrow night. Im so worried its something engine related (because of the oil smoke) and will be major work to fix, i just spend a shit load on replacing stuffed turbos with my car off the road for 6 months so i can not afford to do any engine work.

Well they are only as old as the coils (about 5000km if that) and are $20 a pop so id rather clean them rather than replace them.

Have you got an After market ECU.

Sound like the fuel is not burning properly...or you used poor fuel from a garage.

My sister in law filled up twice at the same servo and both times she could not get the car started the next morning.

It will blow heaps of smoke and splutter and kick like a mule till it has cleared the lines.I know cause I started it by pumping the gas to get the engine to kick.

I would suggest you report it to your last fuel station. Get a new fuel filter and maybe if your like me, dump your fuel.

I suggest all you out there to either use Shell or Mobil for your fuel.

All the rest may have quality problems and may or may not address then.

Good luck with the fix

Interesting. But i first notice the problem just before i got to a servo to fill up from empty and it has gotten worse with the new fuel. Both fill ups were from Mobil.

I am running the stock computer

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
