just got an email from one of my suppliers about price increases. that is the second email this week about price increases, and also got a letter in the mail last week from another. the one i got today was the biggest increase though, 20% starting this friday. their costs went up 35% and they absorbed 15%.

makes me very glad that i am full to the rafters with bikes so none of the increases effect me and make my prices cheaper than other shops that aren't as well stocked as me. had a mate from a shop in brissy ask whether we had crystal ball that we looked in before we ordered all our stock.

man you keep your dreams pretty realistic don't you. the chucker 2.0 is a $740 bike. not exactly high end stuff, LOL.

and the price rises have started to hit. i know that giant has already had a price rise (came into effect at the start of the month) and 1 of my suppliers has 1 coming into effect in 2 weeks time. it is their second rise.

yer well, im only 14, dont have much money to throw around, and the chucker does wat i want it to do. Oi by the way my apollo has a problem if u know how to fix it lol. Both pedal arms go in and out, kinda like a buckle and they are completely tight ive already checked that and the buckle sorta thing is always the opposite side to the pedal, do you know what could be wrong with it? and how to fix it? any help wuld b great. cheers guys.

Bent cranks by the sounds of it mate.

Can't do much but replace them

Mark, Jas help me out here.

I'm after a replacement for my bike.

probably 18 inch frame

mountain bike (will only be used on brisbane city roads) as I don't like wearing tights on weekdays which seems to be a requirement as per every road bike owner...

want something 15kg or less.

want disc brakes.

would like to pay sub $500

willing to buy second hand (if it's a year old or something.. nothing from the 90's thanks)

been looking through cellbikes.com.au

they have a half decent one for $650 or something..

my only real requirements are:

quick release wheels.

disc brakes

lockable shocks (or no suspension would actually be better (hybrid or something they are called aren't they?))

where else can I look?

thread revival

ok so friday arvo i was riding harshly on my giant rincon (with those wonderful tyres marc sold me)

anyway being the fun loving child i am i got some fairly major air on a .. jump.. thing.. was going pretty much full speed

anyway

upon landing the shock blew itself inside out - all componentry inside is smashed - now getting fixed under warranty but will take 2-3 weeks

i went home n did a bit of research on the net about the rincon everyone says the bike is a great entry level bike but the shocks cause huge problems

now i was planning on upgrading my bike in september to something in similar format to the rincon but a bit better components

i was thinking the giant yukon? thoguhts? suggestions?

i'll buy it either september or if my shock blows up again - which ever comes first

the forks on the yukon are still a basic fork, even though they are hydraulic (but they aren't a true hydraulic fork). they are only a cross country fork. and they are only 80mm travel, and depending on what model rincon you have, yours could be 100mm. the only real difference between the 2 forks are the way the lockout and dampening works.

2008 rincon...

i dunno about upgrading my shocks cos to "replace" my shocks is about $300 i was quoted

i PAID $390 for the bike itself

so... heck knows what an "upgrade" would cost!

if i get upgraded shocks.. i've still got entry level brakes n gearsets n stuff... get where im going with this??

i LOVE my bike, but i can't justify upgrading parts when it's only an entry level bike

i'm thinking of either the giant yukon or the giant alias

both are pretty mean looking pieces of metal

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).
    • Car is on factory injectors/z32 maf/ q45 throttle body/ z32 ecu with nistune
    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
