paul bell saves the day again! state roads are great.

Yea they are and I must say that I think the overall positive response.....and now that i think of it I don't think i've read one bad comment about them, is huge in this forum. Maybe SkylineAustralia could affiliate with them some how and members could get a discount?....*hint hint* hahah just a thought

Very interesting read and good to see members putting up this info. Am impressed with how thorough the report is and the price is a small one for what could have been a lemon in your hands.

yea, state roads inspected mine. paul bell was the testers name he was REALLY thorough with it too. I had another car checked by him 2 weeks prior to me buying my skyline best money i ever spent. Takes you outside afterwards too in private away from the seller to talk to you about the car. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

i was about to buy that car!!!! phewwww. lucky he didnt take my offer

That guy should be happy with ANY offer, just out of curiosity where did you he his car? When I looked for it again it looked like he took all the ads down

i saw it on carsale i think he was asking for 9 or 10k. i offer 7k he didnt take it lucky for me he goes nah im looking for around 9.5k i thinks

I'm in the market for a 33 GTR at the moment. Decided to jump onto the forums to see if there are any good deals besides just relying on carsales.com . Had a DC2 type R before this, had stateroads to do a check and they were very thorough. Definitely recommend anyone who wants to buy a car to do a pre purchase inspection.

Cheers,

Daniel

Just a heads up for people wanting to buy a particular car that is on the For Sale section in these forums. I'm not going to name specifically which car here, but one of the R33 GTR for sale in Victoria was an accident car that got smashed pretty bad in the front.

As posted on previous posts in this thread, i don't think it is against forum rules to warn fellow members.

so why not post which car it is...its only fair to members to be warned

I think that is a good idea (waring members) basically i think their should be a thread....maybe this one? where ppl post what they have noticed/found about the car but I think as a fair rule you have to provide supporting evidence i.e. creditable damage report (State Roads/RACV Pre-purshase report) or Pictures of the notable damage with an identifiable feature (partial or full plates (license/VIN) Other rules I think should include No personal judgments, No identifiable information (name, specific address (I think just include the area), phone number) what do you think guys? If this is ok with the members I'll swing it buy the mods and get their opinion.

As long as there is a credible report from a recognised independent party (like state roads etc) then there is no issue with posting the report as anyone could attain it in their own checks, just saves some leg work.

  • 1 year later...

couple of years ago i bought a r32 gtr from sydney of a member here. greek god or something

it was cheap. i payed 15 grand for it. i looked under the car, and saw a crushed bit of the chasis rails (possibly where it had been jacked up wrong)

i asked him he said he "has never jacked up the car"

anyway

i bought it back down to melb, ran in to some financial difficulties.

rego ran out :D

had to re register it get a roady

i got a roadworthy, a very expensive one lol

took it to vicroads, jsut to get the guy there to tell me he wont let it pass the inspection... had to get another roady from somewhere else..

so i put it up for sale, some of you might remember...

in my eyes the car was perfect. cept for 1 scratch.

anyway this guy called up from interstate, an older fella. wanted a nice car again. very nice dude. he asked if he could get the car checked.

i said yep no worries

to my amazement. "it was one of the worst examples of a GTR" the inspector had seen.

the guy who was interested in my car, obviously didnt buy it.

another member on the forum, bought that car off me, but before he did i told him exactly what he was getting himself in to, that there needed to be some extensive repairs.

engine was perfect

driveline was perfect

just the body itsself. nothing on the panel side, just the chasis/underneath

i will definatly use these guys for the next car i buy! DEFINATLY WORTH IT

was the owner a young asian guy or any asian guy

No, I'm pretty sure he had an Azerbaijani mum and his dad was from Burkina Faso. He was a kinda green colour and I think he had a purple arse.

Anyway, the dead giveaway was that he was dumb, racist and illiterate. Do NOT buy cars from anyone who matches this description.

    • Well, yes, every CU on the bus is available via the Consult port, but whether the scanner you are using is capable of talking to the TCU, the ABS/TCS modules, etc etc, is what is at question here. Many of them are only for engine codes. So, if you have one of those, you won't know if the ABS is having a bitch.
    • That's now. R chassis Skylines come from a time when the tolerance in the ADRs was a bit more....slack. My car, on 235/35-17, which is damn near the exact same size as the original 205/55-16, is pretty much bang on correct indicated speed across the whole legal range. That's demonstrated with constant speed run over 5km, and GPS speed. It's just the luck of the draw. My particular speedo head has to be the thing that is "calibrated" that way, because everything else (the diff ratio, the gearbox and the speedo drive**) are all same same as most other Skylines. **OK, so the speedo drive is a Navara unit to drive the R32's cable, not the electronic unit than an R33/4 would normally have with teh same gear on it. Otherwise, I applaud your OCD tendencies, and I would do the same if I needed to.
    • Not too sure, I believe the Nissan consult port does everything? Also just filled up the reservoir to full and the light is still on. The float seems to move up and down fine.
    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph on 255/40 17, so again conservative Google says manufacturers need to set the speedo from 4 to 10% slower than actual road speed.....for safety.....and compliance  After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
