Can anyone explain what the difference is between manual and tiptronic?

I understand it as just a simple up/down tap of the gear stick without using the clutch? If that is so then it would be hell quicker than a regular manual (unless the automatic-tiptronic system takes aaages to change gears).

Seems to be afew decent looking R34 GT-T's being imported at the moment for a nice price.

I've had a manual and tiptronic r34 gtt, the manual (assuming you know how to use it!) changes faster. The Tiptronic changes down pretty fast, but changes up a little slow (but nothing like old autos!) so you tend to hit the button half a second before you want to change up. In full auto mode, it beats most people with a manual..

The R34GTT is a hell of a better car and engine than the r33gtt (I've had one of those too!) but if you really like hooning you should probably get the manual.
