I want to clean my engine bay and im not sure how... at manual carwash they have engine cleaner option which is apparently water with detergent... is it a good idea to get water everywhere in the engine bay and then just drive away?

ive only done it once cos im also unsure, but what i did was cover up pod with a plastic bag use a whole can of degreaser (2 bux at supercheap) spray all over, then just use normal high preasure, but was careful what i was spraying hard at

i didnt really spray at the alternator (spelling?) didnt think that could of been good for it

I hosed down the top of the engine on my Calais once, (because i had a rat which kept dragging dog poo onto the top of my engine, and stashing it there) - and musta got a bit of water on the alternator because it died a few days later.

I'd suggest keeping water away from the alternator+pod.

hey i used to work at a car wash the stuff we use is like 10X stronger than that crap they sell at auto barn try find somewhere where they sell proper products this shit actually makes u choke if you breath it in it gets rid of grease and oils etc sick stuff man i did my engine bay on the GT-R had no problems man there nothing wrong with giving it a high pressure just don't stand to close its not like they were designed not to get water on them they are cars anything that is not meant to touch water is hidden or protected except pods of cores but other than that spray it and get a rag dry it all get another rag clean one! and armaroll and go over it all clean the pipes with it and will come up mint man.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
