G'day,

I've posted a new topic as a last resort....

Details: 89 r32 GTR, Just put my re-built engine back into my GTR along with a new sigle turbo setup. (removed complete aircon components aswel)

Problem: i have no spark.

Can you guys help me track down the promblem... help me back track starting from the spark plugs, it could be just a plug off somewhere, i have spent five hours looking at plugs...there are a couple plugs i can't find a homes for either, one being a 2 pin plug that comes out the back of the injector plug loom...its short and doesn't reach anywhere.

any help would be geat guys. cheers.

Do you have injector pulse?

not sure, but the plugs are getting wet, just checked the coilpack plug wires and i have earth and then when i connect the test light to the positive side of the coilpack plug and wind the engine over the light flashes...

......... New Problem, got 2 good batteries, but the egine cranks over like the batterys flat....????? winds over real slow ???

HELP....... :D

You need to find out if the injectors are pulsing if they aren't, its CAS (Crank Angle Sensor)

there is nothing wrong with the cas. i went through all that just incase.

the issue is i have no spark... injecors are fine... spark is the issue. i can visually see that the sparkplugs arn't creating a spark.

but before i can continue with fixing that..i need to work out why the engine has started cranking over so slowly... any help would be greatly appreciated.

did u ever think ur module may be sending through a weak signal but just enough to give a blip on the test light. remember test lights dont take much to glow. check all ur earths properly and just make sure they are getting a decent surface to earth to. double check also u connected earth wire to the coilpacks down the back. cant hurt to suggest a couple of little things. or at a long shot check fuses in boot underdash and interior.....

also mate engine temp sensor or coolant temperature sensors are vital to wat the computer gets told so if its faulty replace it or it will run like a sack.

well you said you weren't sure if you had injector pulse...

dont shoot me, im just going off what you say.

all help appreciated, just trying to sort out the spark problem, as i know that its not getting any.. and the slow cranking is odd also.... its stopping me fixing the spark issue...

i need help with the slow cranking

the slow cranking may be ur starter motor giving up the ghost... im no electrician but check that the power wire to the starter is bolted down correctly and the lil (exciter wire) is still plugged one properly. short of that it could possibly be an internal problem. how long have u been trying to start it for

Have you got oil pressure? (I know it's not your problem, but you want oil pressure before you get the spark working).

Is the igniter properly earthed? Have you tried a different igniter?

Have you got a good block->chassis earth connection?

Yeah, definately check your oil pressure and make sure its is up before you fire it up - could be why its is not turning over real easy, lack of lubrication. This is just safe-guard to ensure everything has oil (and that the oil pump has been assembled correctly!) Know this may sound obvious but have you checked your ignition fuse(s) maybe blewn when re-connecting everything?

Good Luck - you will get it going and I bet it's something easy - always has been for me anyhow.

Ok,

Fixed cranking problem,

Oil pressure is good

just need to sort the spark problem...

i have a multi-meter but have no clue how to use it....lol.. also have a service manual to tell me how to check the whole ignition system but..(still not sure what readings and values i should be getting on the multimeter? any help there?

also i have one plug i need to find a home for, ill just go get a picture of it and post up... if someone could run out to their gtr and have a look where it goes that would be tops.

thanks guys

blue circle is the plastic cover that the injector plug wires run through

Red is the 2 pin plug that needs a home

and the green circle is the loom it comes from

this plug may not need a home, but im not sure.

any help appreciated.

hey mate think i solved ur problem.... u are missing this.. it sits at the base of ur injector loom....

has a white and a black wire. doesnt lead newhere just goes straight in and straight back out. aka resistor

it has printed on it 0.47 a funny u shape and and f. good luck buddy. :P

sum more good news after i just had a quick look is that black wire runs to the module harness clip its actually the earth wire. id say thats ur issue.

    • Hi 🙋‍♂️. Just bought my Unicorn but the interior need some minor work so it would match my expectations ;). I noticed it is hard to get used oem floor mats in good condition so i started to dig if there's any chance to buy set of new ones. I found two websites - nengun and amayama and it looks like one can still buy factory new floor mats in Japan, but thers a small issue. Some mats (i assume genuine, oem ones) are marked as G4900 and these are "discontinued". The ones you can buy are marked as G4911 but i have no idea if these are also oem, made by other producer or some lower quality replacements that looks entirely different. Can anyone help? 😃  P.s. there is also some strange indication - 0V005, 0V015 and 0V505. Any idea what does it mean? Would appreciate any help with this 🙏
    • Hi, Marek here 🙋‍♂️. I finally fulfilled my longtime dream - recently bought Stagea and now waiting for it to arrive in Poland. There's only few of these in my country, and one of the owners  recommended mi this forum as a source of all the info i'd need since now i own one  so here i am.
    • Version 1 aluminium airbox is.......not acceptable No pics as I "didn't like the look.....alot" Even after all my "CAD", and measurements, the leg near the fusebox just didn't sit right as it ended up about 10mm long and made the angle of the dangle look wrong, the height was a little short as well, meh, I wasn't that confident that Version 1 was going to be an instant winner I might give Version 2 another go, there's plenty of aluminium at work, but, after having in on and off a few times, and laying in the old OEM airbox without the new pod filter and MAF, there may be an option to modify the OEM air box and still use the Autoexe front cover and filter.... maybe This >  Needs to fit in here, but using the panel, and not the pod, the MAF will need to fit in the airbox though> I'm thinking as the old OEM box and Autoexe cover that is sitting in the shed is just sitting around doing nothing, and they are relatively abundant and cheap to replace if I mess it up and need another, it may well fit with some modifications to how the Autoexe brackets mounts to the rad support, and some dremiling to move it get in there, should give me some more room for activities, as I don't want to move the MAF and affect the tune Sealing the hole it requires to stick it in the air box is simple, a tight fit and some pinch weld will seal it up tight  I am calling this a later problem though
    • and it ends up being already priced in as though you're just on 91RON without any ethanol. Car will lose a bit of economy as the short and long term fuel trims bring down the AFR back to stoich or whatever it is for cruise/idle for the engine.
    • Oh, you are right. But, in Australia E10 is based on 91RON fuel and ends up being 94RON. Hence it being the cheaper option for economy cars. The more performance oriented cars go for the 98RON fuel that has no ethanol mixed in. The only step up we have left then at some petrol stations is E85.
