did anyone see that withe mazda 6 with the wide body kit? it hadnt even had a wash!

what a bucket of puss!

however there were lots of nice cars there though :woot:

Yeah I noticed that too, We had the black stagea on Ferahs stand, we had it washed and polished at 12.00 Friday then went on to drive to the setup only to have the car covered in sh!t when the rain came :)

We had to basically rinse the car off with a chamois inside the salon then re polish it, it was a pain in the ass. But the car turned out ok in the end :D

did any of u guys get told of by security 4 filling up buckets of water so we could rinse and chamois the cars down to clean them up a bit?

had that old man with the glasses and the messed up long wavey look telling us we couldnt fill up any buckets.. ignorance is bliss as i walked past him :)

I reckon it sucked that the people that came saturday had to pay again on sunday to come. We didn't have enough buddy passes to go around and some of the people that came to support us had to spend $50 out of their own pockets.

Na I just kept walking past them getting more water with no probs.

The clown in the torn up leather jacket however, I had a few run ins with him over the weekend, he though he was a hero in that jacket LoL.. I just kept ignoring and or laughing at him..

I know what you mean, on the registration form it sounded like there would be two buddy passes for each person who entered. I was lucky to get one of the buddy passes for my mate on saturday from Alisia for $35.

And LoL @ "inspired a 50 year old curry lady to modify her ride now" we are just doing our bit for the modified comunity LoL.

yeh that dude had a major case of my carrots bigger and longer and further up my crack then yours ...

mmm buddy passes...

i guess its a good thing i got a chicks number on the train whos cousin or relo wateva had his car there.

she reckons she can get me n my mate buddy passes heh

i didnt see the guy in the torn up jacket but i laughed when those 12 yr olds behind us on the dyno stand were comparing the cars there to the cars from 2f2f

and who else felt like vomiting after seeing the 2f2f themed R34

seriously WHO THE FU(K WOULD DO THAT?

he even had the movie playing on one of the screens!

I went yesterday, it want that bad, good mix of cars. Just before the gtr came out a supra was on the dyno when i got there and it had sucked in a t shirt through the inlets and still ran about 580kw, then after it was removed it only ran just over 600, i want too impressed. Then the gtr came out, the traction control kept kicking, something to do with the too much torque to easily so it would go into a limp mode, even with the haltech comp. Then when they did get it going it didnt sound too good, honestly it didnt even sound like it was getting anywhere near 4000rpm, Obviosly it was, i cant rem what they got it up to but it ran bugger all on the first run and hit 366kw, i shit myself thinking my car is not even anywhere near that, almost double hahaha. You caould tell it had soooo much more to give. Ill post up the movie of the gtr shortly seeing as no1 has put it up.

hmm i still fail to see how any of those cars are "show cars"

bag the lebs with the airbrushed rexies all you want but atleast they are proper "show cars", which is what your supposed to see at this event...

i thought a "show car" is supposed to have every bit of it upgraded/changed. most the cars at autosalon now are just stockies with nice rims/kits on em.

interior/paint/engine isnt even touched

if i went to a show like this i'd wanna see things that i dont usually see on the road...

its all gone downhill.

anyone get any pics of an actual show car? (yes im talking about airbrushed leb-spec wrx's with bling)

Went to MAS yesterday (Sat) to see what was new. Ran not Al there with his car with EAS and their usual green and red monsters. Not sure what they made on the dyno though. The number of cars were down for the year as a lot of the car clubs didn't' really show this year. I think I saw MelbS15, Agentz, TeamIgnite and a couple other smaller clubs but all the Indos, Evolve and a few others were no shows. Old cars like the PETIR Celica, Teken RX7, the hot red RX7 (who has been there for many years but I can't remember the name) were all there as were some other cars which had been rebirthed. There were a fair few new cars though which were turning heads. Buggered if I remember them coz I think I'm just getting too old for it. Even the models there this time round were only average. Didn't see any particularly hot models like you usually would in years gone by. Even walked round looking for Sandra to brighten up my day but she wasn't even there. What gives San? You said to drop past and you were a no show-er

Speaking of NOSHOW. Donny wasn't even there with his S15 or Ferrari or anything. Word has it that the last time he came to MAS, he demand King of AutoSalon even before the show and when AutoSalon told him to GAGF and earn it, he hasn't been back since. Seems like money can't buy anything...

are you indo too? yea some of the indo guys don't even bother to enter the autosalon again, since most of them have finished their study here. but i think don's s15 'MYSHOW' deserved some credit back then...

Oh crap i just jumped online to upload a pic of my car and i have to follow those comments? Damn, i'm gonna look stupid now if you dont think this is a show car but oh well, its something i've worked on myself and pretty pleased that i made a car mag (hot4's) and won 3 trophies out of 3 car shows and now i can retire i've had enough lol.

As far as the rest of the show, i actually really enjoyed myself. the quality of the cars was better than mas 2007 (both shows) but not the girls and nothing beats the final battle i went to in sydney last december, but it was alright. i guess i liked it more this year cause i know more people and was busy most the time and enjoyed catching up with everyone etc.

I've been called a lot of things but Indo ain't one of them  Donny's NOSHOW S15 deserves credit for being creative but if you ever looked at that car closely, you would have noticed how shoddy some of the body and paint work were. From a distance, it looked "cool" and original but up close, it was very average IMO considering how much he spent on it.

Nah, I'm just another old skool SAUer and FangArtist who enjoyed the days gone by when we pwned MAS each year we were there. Back in 04, we took out every dyno trophy except the FWD trophy. and set national records for 4 cylinder RWD, 6 cylinder RWD, 6 cylinder AWD and Outright Power. Ahhh, those were the days.

Things are just a bit repetitive now with most of the cars coming back looking the same.

Show cars to me come in all different shapes, sizes and colours. I respect the airbrushing which go on the top shelf cars as that is an art form and represents a show car. I also respect the time, effort and money which go into the dyno cars or the DB cars as I've been there and done that. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and people will always argue what is cool and what isn't. That's what makes shows like AutoSalon unique and diverse. Having said that though, stupid mullet haircuts with tinting through the fringe will always be stupid. I wonder why so many people think it's cool?

    • I got a full sheet set of OEM copied stickers to replace all the faded engine bay ones, great quality too.  Came from England. Someone like that should be able to to make u up what u want so long as u have a quality image to show them 🤷🏻‍♂️
    • Did this end up working? Did you take some pictures?
    • And finally, the front lower mount. It was doubly weird. Firstly, the lower mount is held in with a bracket that has 3 bolts (it also acts as the steering lock stop), and then a nut on the shock lower mount itself. So, remove the 3x 14mm head bolts , then the 17mm nut that holds the shock in. From there, you can't actually remove the shock from the lower mount bolt (took me a while to work that out....) Sadly I don't have a pic of the other side, but the swaybar mounts to the same bolt that holds the shock in. You need to push that swaybar mount/bolt back so the shock can be pulled out past the lower control arm.  In this pic you can see the bolt partly pushed back, but it had to go further than that to release the shock. Once the shock is out, putting the new one in is "reverse of disassembly". Put the top of the shock through at least one hole and put a nut on loosely to hold it in place. Put the lower end in place and push the swaybar mount / shock bolt back in place, then loosely attach the other 2 top nuts. Bolt the bracket back in place with the 14mm head bolts and finally put the nut onto the lower bolt. Done....you have new suspension on your v37!
    • And now to the front.  No pics of the 3 nuts holding the front struts on, they are easy to spot. Undo 2 and leave the closest one on loosely. Underneath we have to deal with the wiring again, but this time its worse because the plug is behind the guard liner. You'll have to decide how much of the guard liner to remove, I undid the lower liner's top, inside and lower clips, but didn't pull it full off the guard. Same issue undoing the plug as at the rear, you need to firmly push the release clip from below while equally firmly gripping the plug body and pulling it out of  the socket. I used my fancy electrical disconnect pliers to get in there There is also one clip for the wiring, unlike at the rear I could not get behind it so just had to lever it up and out.....not in great condition to re-use in future.
    • Onto the rear lower shock mount. It's worth starting with a decent degrease to remove 10+ years of road grime, and perhaps also spray a penetrating oil on the shock lower nut. Don't forget to include the shock wiring and plug in the clean.... Deal with the wiring first; you need to release 2 clips where the wiring goes into the bracket (use long nose pliers behind the bracket to compress the clip so you can reuse it), and the rubber mount slides out, then release the plug.  I found it very hard to unplug, from underneath you can compress the tab with a screwdriver or similar, and gently but firmly pull the plug out of the socket (regular pliers may help but don't put too much pressure on the plastic. The lower mount is straightforward, 17mm nut and you can pull the shock out. As I wasn't putting a standard shock back in, I gave the car side wiring socket a generous gob of dialectric grease to keep crap out in the future. Putting the new shock in is straightforward, feed it into at least 1 of the bolt holes at the top and reach around to put a nut on it to hold it up. Then put on the other 2 top nuts loosely and put the shock onto the lower mounting bolt (you may need to lift the hub a little if the new shock is shorter). Tighten the lower nut and 3 upper nuts and you are done. In my case the BC Racing shocks came assembled for the fronts, but the rears needed to re-use the factory strut tops. For that you need spring compressors to take the pressure off the top nut (they are compressed enough when the spring can move between the top and bottom spring seats. Then a 17mm ring spanner to undo the nut while using an 8mm open spanner to stop the shaft turning (or, if you are really lucky you might get it off with a rattle gun).
