More on the JAPANESE Money woes...

Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on Northern Rock in the UK , uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song while today trading of shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.

While Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black.

Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal.

PS - I just heard that the Bank of Iceland has had its assets frozen!

Very clever Stephen :( How long did it take you to come up with all that :laughing-smiley-014:

hahaha I read through a third of that before having to stop and go huh - oh :(

ok Actually half way - got to "Ninja Bank" before I smelt something Sushi like! :O

That is what happens when you are at work and are only skimming a post.

Hey for those of you who liked the idea of getting the white Pearl coupe with sunroof and leather!!:

Try this 2004 model on for size - also comes with a full kit and because it has 40,000 on the clock should be relatively cheap (as cheap as you can get with the current exchange that is)

Yes "this fellow" did post the log in before in this thread! :)

Grade 4 claimed. 40,000km CPV35 AC SR AW Leather PS PW

No Auction sheet (unless you have a brocker look into it for you) and possibly Sold by now as these Auctions Occur every Thursday (as in today)

Holy crap!

http://finance.yahoo.com/currency/convert?...;amt=1&t=5d

AU$1= 58.4 Yen (dropped to 54 a day or so back then banks take 1.5 yen so ouch)

AU$1= 0.62 USD (Important for calculating shipping, I am told it got below 60 the other day as well)

If you were to try and buy my car at the current exchange rates in Japan it would now cost you between $37,000 and $39,000 landed, complied and registered! (based on my buy price in YEN) Seeing this I might get greedy and up the price on mine... :P (Just joking).

I would hate to be looking at importing right now even with a drop in expected prices at auction. Buy Local - you will save big!

Yeah Vic is heap's cheap compared to SA - there is a bottom of the range silver coupe Auto 44,000km with cloth seats for only 22 odd grand on carsales ATM!

As I said buy local - no way you could import at these prices anymore!

BTW - I take it you meant 50G or something similar not 5G's? :) else if that is not a typo it is a huge mark up!

Yes prices do seem inflated, but if I can not find the car I want, either here or o/s it is all relative.

I have noticed at least one car on carpoint for sale by an importer has actually put his price up. Good luck with that move buddy! :D

Geoff

Or because the car has landed and they haven't paid the car cost in yen, or because many of them have lost over $100K purely because they had 20+ cars on the boat and got stung by the exchange rate. Cut them a break guys, there are plenty of businesses doing it tough at the moment, and none of them are going to succeed if they keep selling cars at a loss...

(hijack)

+1. my prices are going up as well. I had a panel on order from tokyo that went up $70 over night so I'm not going to let that slip.

kristian,

I know of a few guys here in brissy that are REALLY feeling this, think you know who they are.

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
