Aussie superbikes can get up to 280 on that back straight.... rubys Brutale could easily do that 225...

-D

The Brutale is not set up for track use, so no way could it do even 215kph thru the kink. The GSXR can, but not the Brute. The Brute could only honestly handle 195-200kph before it would 'wallow' thru the turn. My GSXR is better set up for cornering at higher speeds. I don't think even the superbikes can do over 240kph thru the kink.

Fact of the matter is cars and bikes accelerate and corner differently. i just made a smart arse comment about bikes vs cars thru the kink, and now its turning into a fight for ownership of turn 4. Meh, I know what my GSXR can do, I'll leave it at that.

:O

Attached is a download of the cars 1:15.60 second lap of Mallala :)

I was just looking at the data/graphs from my Performance box (of the laps in my car) and the first obvious difference (besides the speed and the lap time) is how smooth the R35 speed line is which shows the beauty of the gearbox - no deccelaeration when changing gears

What do you guys think of this matte gold R35GTR in Dubai? If we are lucky Munro will spot it while he is there next week and get some more photos!

I like it a lot!

Thats the beauty of the GR6 transmission Mitric. We have some tricks to improve the transmission performance before nex time out :)

As well as adding some Proxes R888 20 inch tyres and competition brake pads. These modifications should hopefully net another 1.5 seconds or so a lap....now we have to do some more work to speed up Mitric, Munro, and of course RH9 (However I have Tilbrook on that one as we speak) :)

when will u guys be out next?

I am here now, have not seen a gtr yet but have seen an enzo on the back of a truck & heaps of mercs & land rovers everywhere. Steering wheel on the wrong side takes a bit of getting used to! Hot & muggy as hell.

I have had a lot of fun taking my street GTR out to mallala but am quite happy with 1 min 17.6 & will now concentrate on getting my other race GTR ready & see what that can do with similar power but 400kg less weight.

Will try to get out to the Dubai Autodrome tomorrow to have a look at a different racetrack.

Make sure you come home with both hands Munro....

Tell em its only your GTR that drinks alcohol :)

Well Munro we are in the throes of putting together a couple of ground up builds on a pair of matching 850hp R33 and R34 GTRs currently. Adding your other 'race GTR' to the mix would be as simple as you bringing it on down....then we can go hunt it at Mallala :P

Care to throw a R32 gtr in the mix that runs a lazy 1:17 at Mallala on stuffed tyres and worn out coilovers????

    • yeah first and reverse is where you will find clutch release issues (whether hydraulic or mechanical) because the difference in revs required is the highest there; particularly changing down from 2nd to 1st when still moving. To be clearer though, it is possible that the clutch release bearing is the wrong height. This is less likely than a hydraulic issue but it is not unheard of when you are mixing and matching
    • Quite right, if you make it to that pension you deserve every cent
    • Hi all, Restoring r33 series 1 rb25det. All the heater hoses were on their way out, have replaced them and put it all back together. After testing I noticed a small leak from behind the head on the actual metal water line to the turbo when cars warm. I tried running a longer hose over it but it kept leaking...   I am about to take the (stock) manifold off again😔 to change the water line does any one have any lines they recommend? I was looking at Aeroflow Turbo Oil & Water Line Set but not sure what everyone else recommends. Car is completely stock but want to upgrade turbo eventually. it looks like ill have to disconnect a lot just to replace these lines so if there's anything else recommended to do please let me know. Thank you in advance!
    • From memory, on the R33 GTSt at least, while everyone says "It's not adjustable", I found when I changed clutches in mine, it just needed a small adjustment on the rod length. But be very wary here, as you could end up trying to push the pushrod in the master too far, or blowing out the slave.   Most likely though, if the master/slave isn't bypassing internally or leaking out, then the throw out is the wrong height compared to the fingers on the clutch, so when it moves to disengage the clutch, it isn't 100% disengaged. You can check part of this out too by jacking the car up, having the engine running, put your foot on the clutch and try to engage 1st gear. If it goes in pretty easy (Compared to the ground) and/or the wheels start turning a fair bit and it takes a bit too much brake pedal to bring them back to a stop, this is likely the issue.  I'm not sure if you can adjust the height of the forks etc in these though, it's been that long since I've touched any RB gearbox.
    • That's all good, I thought I was missing some interesting feature! Maybe @PranK can double check if that is something that is meant to be operating or not.
