^^^^refer to the top of the spec sheet.....or if your in WA I got it through the WA distributor - "Filters Elite" ph 9356 1155.

what sort of price you paying for it? if you dont mind sharing?

You don't want to know.....$669 for 200 litres and $15 delivered to my door.

At that price I'm not going to run it on the street - just at the circuit - I'll run two maps in the Autronic.

I could ship a 200L drum to you for cheaper than that :(

Are we talking Powerplus E85, and if not does it include the anti-corrosive properties and lubricants as contained in the Powerplus mix? Or is all E85 the same stuff and simply rebranded and marketted as such?

Its all the same stuff.

E85 either comes from CSR or Manildra. Unless Powerplus are making it themselves which i doubt.

As we were going through installing the new fuel system all parts that were taken off the car were inspected, everything looked great :(

The injector O-rings are not brittle and have no sign of cracks or premature wear at all. I was comparing them to a new set that i have and i cannot tell the difference between the two.

Sounds good...I'll get back to you re future supplies.

You might have to send it over Mad Max style - send the decoy fuel tanker to Queensland and the bus loaded with drums of E85 to WA.

Currently upgrading my fuel system at the moment. Did you ditch your Nismo intank when you upgraded? I was hoping to run my current Nismo in tank to a new 044 in line and hard wire both pumps to the battery with relays.

Guys how's it going with e85 availability in Sydney? Is there enough supply for me to tune for e85 permanently yet? Also anyone reccomend a place in Sydney that can tune it for me? I seem to have bad luck with tuners my last place a certain high performance workshop in auburn has my car pinging like shit

Scott or Dyno Dave at Insight, they have lots of E85 experience now.

E85 availability is really dependant on where you live, I go past Lansdowne at least once week and our race team machinist is walking distance from the Nowra outlet.

E85 based on Manildra ethanol :

Shoalhaven Ethanol Fuel

215 Kinghorne St

Nowra NSW 2540

Ethanol Fuel

(near McDonald's)

251 Princes Highway

Albion Park NSW 2527

2 Rawson St

Granville 2142

Enhance

(Liverpool side of the Mecano Set)

987 Hume Highway

Lansdowne 2163

Forestville Ethanol

Warringah Road just north of the Coles Express Station. (not confirmed)

E85 based on CSR ethanol

United Service Station

127 Victoria Rd

Rozelle NSW Sydney

Powerplus buy the ethanol (the 85%) from CSR and then blend it with 98 ron petrol (the 15%). What you buy from the outlets above is 85% ethanol plus 15% 91 ron petrol. So Powerplus claim a better brew, to justify 2 to 3 times the price. Personally I don't give it much weight, to me the blended with 98 versus 91 is a bit of marketing spin. The simple numbers are;

85% Ethanol at 110 ron blended with 15% 91 ron = 107 ron

85% Ethanol at 110 ron blended with 15% 98 ron = 108 ron

I am not sure that I would be spending 2.5 times as much for 1 ron.

Cheers

Gary

Gary,

Firstly good to see your back on the forum.

Powerplus "quote" 116 RON and 108 MON - refer the spec sheet on the previous page which I grabbed off their website - which is a bit more than what you've mentioned.

Nevertheless, I agree with you that the price difference is hard to justify and whether there is any performance difference might be negligible.

Good to be back, I have finally cleared enough space in my time (and brain) to actually read up on what I have been missing out on. Especailly E85, as I started using ethanol in the Skylines almost 4 years ago and the Stagea has always run on some % of ethanol.

I used 110 ron as it is the lowest commonly figure quoted for ethanol, some quote it at 120 ron. They measurement of ron is not particularly accurate for ethanol, actually more to the point, it's not truly relevant. They really need to devise a more accurate and applicable measure with up to date physics and chemistry. Let's face it ron over 100 is a simple extrapolation of iso-octane and hence can be argued for and against.

As for the Powerplus claim you get that result when you use 120 ron for Ethanol.

85% Ethanol at 120 ron blended with 15% 91 ron = 116 ron

85% Ethanol at 120 ron blended with 15% 98 ron = 117 ron

Still only 1 ron difference.

The point I was making is that using 91 ron or 98 ron (ie; 15% of 7 ron) is never going to make more than 1 ron difference in the total result, so it's really just marketing spin.

Cheers

Have any of you guys had issues with O Rings swelling due to the use of this biofuel.

Im in NZ and we only have E15 at this stage. Ive purchased brand new o rings, and replaced the whole pipe and clamps going into my fuel tank, however the O ring is still swelling and the thing leaking.

I enjoy having the biofuel as it sure smells better with a surge tank than normal 98 fuel, however its annoying when i cant put more than half a tank of gas in my car.

Any ideas?

Cheers

In theory yes, however ive got a nice trickle of fuel running out of my tank so id presume the swelling is effecting the seal.

Ive tried 3 or 4 different seals and seating is easy when you look at the way the ring sits in the tank. There is a slot especially for it.

Cheers

I'm in syd and it does seem that only rozelle sells it, I'll have to check on the one in lansvale because I'm in Liverpool, but with my car being only just with minor mods it pulls 200rwkw, I know e85 needs bigger injectors but is it necessary? I don't want to go over 200rwkw at this stage. Because the stock turbo will shit itself. So if I can I'd like to keep it with standard injectors until I do the highflow route with bigger injectors and z32 afm at the same time. Btw I run a PFC as well.

May I have contact details for insight

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
