Club locks dont work.

I had an old car of mine broken into while i wasnt near it for about an hour and i come back - club lock on the floor broken in pieces.

Its not a deterrent at all. Only thing that saved my car from being flogged - i had a fuel isolation switch hidden (i have a love for hidden switches/buttons to prevent stealing) :(

Maybe a bit of a deterrent though? I mean, most thieves will want to be in and out of the car in a few minutes. Surely it would take more that a few minutes to saw through a Club lock?

Where could I get one of these switches set up? It sounds great.

I use the club lock as a visual deterant for the average jacker. i see floors in my viper alarm that makes me not trust it hence the club lock just to up the thiefs risk assesment hoping they move onto another easier car. at the end of the day if they're willing to saw my steerign wheel and club lock theres nothing much more i could do other than kill switches. then again he'd probably be onto his mate to get the flatbed around. bloody criminals!!

as for a club lock suggesting you dont have an alarm, most alarm nowdays have flashing leds. a quick kick of the tyre will tell if you have an alarm or not too. I say having a club lock there is better than not having one if you have no alarm at all.

all this club lock talk takes me back to big kevs pic at sandown of the guy with the club lock in his head after a stack...ouch.

for the new skyline owners out there, invest in a decent security setup first instead of mods. i take it the car wasnt insured maybe as the first thing they would have asked for is to get aus approved immobiliser??

i think the club lock can work against you. Thieves may walk past your car, see the clublock on the wheel and assume that you dont have an alarm and then try to break into it.

This is true, I can imagine this scenario :( Just hope it doesn't happen to me, or anyone else from this forum.

Well it didnt deter the guys who had a crack @ my car. Was a Sat night @ the Palace car park too, so lots of people around and they still made an absolute mess of the window/club lock/steering wheel etc etc. Honestly i couldnt care less what interior dmg is done, long as the car is still there thats all i give a stuff about.

now to recap.

yes the car has been found, the 2nd car stolen that night was driven into a pole, my car from what i have been told not a scratch on the body except for a busted ignition barrel and a damaged centre console. as far as i know all the parts are still there.. including my SP1's :P:D:D:D:D:D

Jakez88 - Mate im not going to lie to you, i did shed a tear over those rims, but having said that, it was those exact rims that made scum like this look twice at the car in the first place. LOCK NUTS FTW

DNGRUS- as happy as he is, i am over the moon with joy at the moment, hence the reason i am posting this at 5am.. still cant sleep, too excited lol

Basti - ALARM IS BEING ORGANISED A.S.A.P

just want to thank everyone on here for the support it means a lot and also like to point out that the car is going in for finger printing this morning, so hopefully something will come up there and that, along with the surveilance footage should be enough to give these bastards what they deserve.

SKYLINES AT THE MOMENT ARE HOT ON THE MARKET FOR THEFT. theft numbers have risen unbelievably on skylines so please people, learn from me, lock them, check them again, garage them do what you must so you dont have to go through one of the days i just went through.

THANKS AGAIN

mate, did you have insurance? if yes, are you covered without an alarm?

how long have you had the car for?

hey mate had the car for just under a year now.. yes i am covered by 3rd party. but thankfully now, there is no need to make a claim on the car.

    • As far as I can tell I have everything properly set in the Haltech software for engine size, injector data, all sensors seem to be reporting proper numbers.  If I change any injector details it doesnt run right.    Changing the base map is having the biggest change in response, im not sure how people are saying it doesnt really matter.  I'm guessing under normal conditions the ECU is able to self adjust and keep everything smooth.   Right now my best performance is happening by lowering the base map just enough to where the ECU us doing short term cut of about 45% to reach the target Lambda of 14.7.  That way when I start putting load on it still has high enough fuel map to not be so lean.  After 2500 rpm I raised the base map to what would be really rich at no load, but still helps with the lean spots on load.  I figure I don't have much reason to be above 2500rpm with no load.  When watching other videos it seems their target is reached much faster than mine.  Mine takes forever to adjust and reach the target. My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
