Father in-law got done during the week on his bike for:

To loud, LED number plate lights, non-compliance indicators, handle bars over 900mm and was also fined for a non ADR approved helmet because the 5 ticks on the sticker were no longer red, they were worn.

Police also questioned him as to which motor cycle gang he was with. He replied with a swift " It's called 'The cool kids motorbike gang' and sorry, but your not allowed".

Officer then took his helmet and stuck the defect sticker on his headlight and left him sitting there in the pouring rain. He is now fighting the fine for the helmet and is trying to find it but the officer hasn't logged it yet and its supposedly 'missing'

what sort of bike Jarrad....any pics?

If so, put them up in Wasteland for us.

Just had a run in with the same Officer that defected me earlier this year... he popped out of a sidestreet about 20 metres behind me as I was waiting at the lights to turn right and he went up right behind me and what do you know - pulls me over shortly after for an "RBT" - atleast this time he didnt ask to pop the bonnet straight away but actually breath tested me first unlike last time didnt breath test at all just went straight for the bonnet. So yeah, bonnet popped he went straight for the standard solenoid which is located at the standard position with the standard lines... had a good long look at it and gave the line coming out of it a wiggle and that was it, nothing to defect so off he goes. Thats enough excitement for me for today! lol

Thats good to hear Vu. Your car is tidy as. :)

yeah, sunday night down the bay dropping a mate off defect station on colley tce. Got done 4 too dark a tint 18% on drivers and 17% on the rears and also too loud exaust 104Db at 3300RPM GAY SHIT!

U got done for front tint and exhaust but the rear windows is shit... U can black out the rear windows, there is no legal limit as long as u have 2 side mirrors!

Iv talked to a cop about it!

ohh, you had the privelage to see a cop on the phone whilst driving?..

ive seen many eating, and drinking (n/alco) whilst driving..

i dont bother reporting it because youll get your ass done in for trying..

but im tempted to get out the camera, just for funny photos.

But what even happen when we do report it,

Does it even get looked at?

Does the officer even get questioned?

Iv seen an officer speed through 2 intersections turning lights on as they go through, all to end up pulling in to Macca's and goin through the drive through!

Make me laugh for a bit!

My dad has seen 2 cops steaming up the windows in the back seat, down at west beach!

Really unfair!!..........But i do say.... Makin Bacon

Hate to say it, but I've seen that myself also. :P

Yesterday, saw two cops sussing out my car driving past them doing 50 in a 50 zone ... when just immediately prior to that they just casually watched a porsche fly past them doing 80!!! That peeved me off to no end. Parked the car and got out as they slowly drove past me. I pointed in the direction of the Porsche and sarcastically told them "he went that way".

Yeah that sucks when that happens,

Happens all the time... Cop stares at u and sees others speeding to other random stuff (that is we did we would be bent over) And doesnt care about them they will rather suss u out, even pulling u over!

  • 2 weeks later...

so i got pulled over in the 260 tonight... nothing happened just a warning. i did an illegal u turn n hes like dude i cd do u for 2 points that u dont have (ran my liscence :S) didnt look at the car but it scared the feck outa me :S just put the coil overs in... pretty low to be honest (needed the old brake rotors to get the jack out, and get out the drive way) but its so easy to get screwed over these days... its worth it but aaaaaaaahhh end rant :P semi keen to put the boost controler on high and just stash it under the dash...

I had a run in with a cob just off Goulburn about a month ago, whilst coming back from a Wakefield trip. Honestly, he was pretty decent...Popped the hood and all. In the end, was just defected for my half cage and told to get an engineers cert - No fine, or canary.. If he wanted to , he could've made me tow the car back. So, my respect for these guys are there.

then again, on hindsight, he probably pitied me, a 30 something and driving a Honda Civic...LOL.

10/10 Yay!

My mate was pulled over for his tint.

Was told that he's not to have ANY tint on the front windows and only 35% on the rest.

He said that he asked for legal tinting which 35% was put on the fronts.

Cop said the rules have changed, no front tint at all and only 35% on the rears.

Not that tint doesn't help stop harmfull UV rays that cause cancer or anything

Thought that I'd take the car for a drive down the bay to get desert and then a little drive to advertise the For Sale signs.

Now Two months ago I was done for being too low, which I understood etc....20mm :P oh well

But got pulled over on Saturday night on Rundle St because the BOV was too loud..... ???? ...... It's stock and haven't touched the car since regancy! Now I have to waste everyones time and my money just to go back through for an entirely stock part which is asumed to be vented to the atmosphere! He even looked over the whole car and only got me for the BOV (thats stock) because he assumes its not standard!!! He followed all the lines and they were all plumbed in ???? :D Because its stock!

Fair or not fair? hmmmm lol

Yeah not fair mate. BOVs that are vented to the atmosphere are illegal. Stock BOVs are plumbed back in and are of course legal. Ive read this in a few different places.

    • I came here to note that is a zener diode too base on the info there. Based on that, I'd also be suspicious that replacing it, and it's likely to do the same. A lot of use cases will see it used as either voltage protection, or to create a cheap but relatively stable fixed voltage supply. That would mean it has seen more voltage than it should, and has gone into voltage melt down. If there is something else in the circuit dumping out higher than it should voltages, that needs to be found too. It's quite likely they're trying to use the Zener to limit the voltage that is hitting through to the transistor beside it, so what ever goes to the zener is likely a signal, and they're using the transistor in that circuit to amplify it. Especially as it seems they've also got a capacitor across the zener. Looks like there is meant to be something "noisy" to that zener, and what ever it was, had a melt down. Looking at that picture, it also looks like there's some solder joints that really need redoing, and it might be worth having the whole board properly inspected.  Unfortunately, without being able to stick a multimeter on it, and start tracing it all out, I'm pretty much at a loss now to help. I don't even believe I have a climate control board from an R33 around here to pull apart and see if any of the circuit appears similar to give some ideas.
    • Nah - but you won't find anything on dismantling the seats in any such thing anyway.
    • Could be. Could also be that they sit around broken more. To be fair, you almost never see one driving around. I see more R chassis GTRs than the Renault ones.
    • Yeah. Nah. This is why I said My bold for my double emphasis. We're not talking about cars tuned to the edge of det here. We're talking about normal cars. Flame propagation speed and the amount of energy required to ignite the fuel are not significant factors when running at 1500-4000 rpm, and medium to light loads, like nearly every car on the road (except twin cab utes which are driven at 6k and 100% load all the time). There is no shortage of ignition energy available in any petrol engine. If there was, we'd all be in deep shit. The calorific value, on a volume basis, is significantly different, between 98 and 91, and that turns up immediately in consumption numbers. You can see the signal easily if you control for the other variables well enough, and/or collect enough stats. As to not seeing any benefit - we had a couple of EF and EL Falcons in the company fleet back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The EEC IV ECU in those things was particularly good at adding in timing as soon as knock headroom improved, which typically came from putting in some 95 or 98. The responsiveness and power improved noticeably, and the fuel consumption dropped considerably, just from going to 95. Less delta from there to 98 - almost not noticeable, compared to the big differences seen between 91 and 95. Way back in the day, when supermarkets first started selling fuel from their own stations, I did thousands of km in FNQ in a small Toyota. I can't remember if it was a Starlet or an early Yaris. Anyway - the supermarket servos were bringing in cheap fuel from Indonesia, and the other servos were still using locally refined gear. The fuel consumption was typically at least 5%, often as much as 8% worse on the Indo shit, presumably because they had a lot more oxygenated component in the brew, and were probably barely meeting the octane spec. Around the same time or maybe a bit later (like 25 years ago), I could tell the difference between Shell 98 and BP 98, and typically preferred to only use Shell then because the Skyline ran so much better on it. Years later I found the realtionship between them had swapped, as a consequence of yet more refinery closures. So I've only used BP 98 since. Although, I must say that I could not fault the odd tank of United 98 that I've run. It's probably the same stuff. It is also very important to remember that these findings are often dependent on region. With most of the refineries in Oz now dead, there's less variability in local stuff, and he majority of our fuels are not even refined here any more anyway. It probably depends more on which SE Asian refinery is currently cheapest to operate.
    • You don't have an R34 service manual for the body do you? Have found plenty for the engine and drivetrain but nothing else
