I've heard the same as Kye, thought they only check what its defected for and can not keep adding to the list with different stuff. Just makes it look bad for themselves, in that they cant spot it first time through :P

i think i have now been defected about 14 times in total.

not once have i ever had to go back for a third inspection.

if i failed and returned for a second inspection, 90% of the time they only checked what i had failed for the last time.

i really cant understand WHY you are failing over and over if you are deffently fixing what they told you to fix!

i would almost seek legal aid if you get done a fith time!

but thats what i thought....they could only check for what they redefected you for and not for anything new....otherwise it means that they are not doing their job properly

I got defected on Monday night on Trimmer pde near west lakes.

Got pulled into a breath test and pricks initially wanted to defect me for my rear tyres

being a little worn. they just hit the tyre wear indicator.

they ended up doing me for: turbo timer, lack of air filters and tyres.

the only thing that Pi*&es me off is that when i go for an inspedtion they are going to

screw me. basically got a r33 GTR with a few things done to it.

I have got Greedy turbos, Hks cams, boost controller and other stuff that i dont really want

to take off before the inspection. Should i risk it or replace with standard items??

also what do you guys think my chances would be of trying to get the defect cleared at a cop shop??

it states on the defect notice as minor defect. i have heard of it being done before.

please shed some light on the situation

Ahh dude not good to hear you being defected.....but i dont understand as Damo also stated about the "Lack if air filters" i mean wtf is with that....with your turbos mate if they have a massive F off Greddy symbol then most likey you wont pass as when i went through they had a decent look at my turbo and found it to be a stock turbo so left me alone lol.....

Good luck with getting it through mate....most workshops can help you get off defect but they will charge mega bucks so better off trying to do everything yourself

If you can get the stuff listed on 'minor defect' you can get it cleared at the police station - I'm curious about the no air filter - does that mean you have pods instead of a box, or do you have a box with the filter medium removed?

Getting the filter fixed and new tyres is infinately cheaper than having to go thru regency, mainly because you will need to go thru twice by the sounds of it, and removing the turbo and cams is a big job. You'll definately need to remove the boost controller and turbos, you may get away with leaving the cams in. Regency know what to look for, you can't bluff them on EBC and turbo timer (and if you have a turbo timer, just get rid of it, TT's are only useful on track cars).

I'd be fixing those things and visiting sturt police station or another one which can clear it for you. Regency inspection will cost you a lot more.

-D

Sucks to hear.

The police browse this forum, so I'd remove the turbos for stock ones and all the rest, now that you've given them a shopping list of what you have.

Yes the do look at the forums (from time to time) but do you really think they will now ring regency to advise them that if someone called Panda200 (peter) drops in with a defected car at some time (don’t know when) then have a check for these additional items???

Regency is not attached to SAPOL, and it’s no skin of SAPOLS nose if they miss something. At the end of the day it was all about an officer meeting his quota of TINs. Regency are responsible for finding any additional items and it is up to them if they add it to the list (occasionally they are lenient - very occasionally)

They're going to find the turbos ... its the first thing they'll look for.

No, the first thing they check for is a visual on ground clearance.

Sense, you speak it!

Seriously mate, odds are you'll have to come back a second time, so if you want to chance leaving the turbos on, go for it, will save a bit of coin if you are paying someone to do it, or a lot of time if you're doing it yourself.

Agreed Heslo ;) Exactly the point I was getting across to Ruby

:)

You can listen to whomever you want ... or you can listen to commonsense.

You're rollin the dice man, no skin off my nose.

    • When you crank your car, and hit it with a timing light, can you see a steady crank timing?
    • Oh, forgot to add, A few months ago I was getting mixture codes and the car was using crap loads of fuel. You could smell the unburned fuel in the exhaust, it was crazy strong. Economy was over 17.5 l/100 and usually around 19. I smoked the engine and found a leaky CCV hose which I replaced and then I replaced my two pre cat O2 sensors, I also replaced the MAF. This fixed my mixture codes and improved my exonomy but I'm still 14 - 15 l/100 when pottering about town so something is still amiss. Throttle response is much better and it has more pep but I'd like to know why it's still so thirsty (and I'm hoping that whatever it is gives me a bit more poke).

    • Hello all, currently finishing up a rb25 swap into my s14. Having issues with starting, car has spark (confirmed by pulling a plug and watching it spark), has fuel(confirmed by checking pulse/voltage at injectors all spark plugs are soaked in fuel). Car cranks over and pops into the exhaust with a heavy fuel smell but no attempt to start or run, I have torn the timing cover off and triple confirmed timing, turned the CAS in multiple spots both directions, attempted to start with coolant temp and maf unplugged, checked my fuel lines and made sure they weren’t backwards, checked voltage at cas/injectors/coilpacks, made sure all the grounds in the harness are connected and added a few grounding straps (1 from chassis to block, 1 from chassis to head, and 1 from chassis to igniter chip) I am getting stumped here. As a last ditch effort I made a full grounding harness tonight that’s going to run from the battery and add an extra ground from the battery onto the coil pack harness/igniter chip/ intake manifold/ Wiring specialties harness ground/ and alternator. I’m hoping maybe the grounding harness will fix it here but posting here to see if anyone has any other ideas on what else I can check. My fuel pressure is unknown right gauge will be here tomorrow.  IMG_3206.mov
    • yeah I was shocked when I checked my spare OEM on and as below that's how they come from Nissan. (side interesting note new NEO gearbox and replacement park lack the brass bush on the tips and its just all alloy) unsure about damage to the box currently back at 1110 to be pulled down/inspected and selector fork replaced as he built it previously and given the never before seen failure on his billet forks he is replacing it under warranty. He said he has used always OEM the keyway tab without issue for years so it could be an unlucky coincidence. I did talk to him about the sharp corners and stress concentration too. Re: hard shifts i got 7+ years out of the OEM one and the fork itself failed not the keyway. so could be bad luck as I said or an age thing + heat cycles in box and during fabrication of billet?
