The Slot Car was strong all day, again, but what might have been, as we found the boost button was not connected to the dash in first session, being the best time fo the day to get a time when we did 15.3, also had front undertray and air dam ripple strip smashed, so less downforce and more drag, so should have hit the 1 min 14 sec bracket, front tyres were old and lacked grip to and understeering, front diff was lacking too, he he. Bla bla bla.

Hey fatz I couldn't see you out their ya big skirt, but soon to be and it will be tops.

Pics

Great pics on the previous page, awesome shot of the Civic :)

So, how much of that corner cutting goes on where the Evo is? Is that a standard line for the higher clearence cars to take or has he made a mistake to end up there?

I think this was maybe brought up last year, and I was of the opinion that there should be bollards placed there to avoid cutting.

A cut like that isn't really within the spirit of the competition, and once one guy does it, everyone else really has to follow to remain competetive.

I was under the impression you had to have at least 2 wheels on the black stuff?

photos are fantastic guys, really looks like a step up from last year... great variety of cars... top work:) The R34 has to be the fastest drifter on the planet!

the 'Vettes were a bit slow hey... the ZR1 must be significantly faster than the standard Z06... R35 was 5 secs faster

Chris I would lay low if I was you hehe... or maybe its time for the first ever RB25 powered MX5?:)

lots of corner cutting done at the S bend after you come off the bridge, the left hander before the flip flop and a massive cut action over the flip flop (basically allows you to straight line in a car if you don't mind smashing johnies diffuser.... did I say that?!?).

there is definitely 1 or 2 seconds in the cuts. maybe a little more depending on the car. it's farken nasty on your car though, as they are mostly big saw tooth curbs (to stop cutting lol).

john is so gay he gets someone else to f**ken drive

LMFAO, I told him before hand he should be drivin or gayness would get him !! :)

Biggest problem with Superlap is there is as of now, ONE event and its only in Sydney.

This type of racing has huge appeal and I dont get why the calender is developed so slowly, when having even a one meet per city ( preferably more ) series could net huge participation and audience including the sports channel.

What can we do as interested people in pushing Superlap along a lot faster? Make it PAY for the organisers to run it ??

Suggestions ??

Thanks for the kind words regarding the photos - here's a few more because Mr Boston asked so nicely :)

Oh, and kerb jumping is what makes it Oran Park. Makes for more action for the spectators and brings down the lap times. That said, the Evo on the grass was actually a mistake; he came in pretty sideways and slid it out there - noone is over that kerb that far, that early, if they want to be quick there. If you go back and look at the first set of photos, you can actually see sparks under one of the Evos going over the dogleg though...

sadly a big production like superlap costs a lot of dough to put on.

think about what tracks like oran park charge for

track hire

garage hire

carpark use for trade stalls

corporate box use

then add

timing system

public liability insurance

advertising

wages (staff on the day, staff taking entries, staff calling people, security, etc)

merchandise

trophies

have a guess at those costs, then double it! then there is the problem that there is only so much the market will bear in terms of entry costs and spectator costs.

I would say it would get pretty close to breaking even, may even make a small profit on paper. but it takes a lot of work to make it happen and it may not be viable to run more than 1 or 2 a year as you'd lose some entries from interstate as they may just chose to do their home round, instead of the 1 big one a year.

    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
