they drive anything these days

few days ago saw a guy get booked on the M4 cumberland hwy turn off pulled over by a 08 model civic, with mounted rear and front blue n red lights.

My view is dont race or speed on the road at all.

Fair enough we all give it a squirt here and there, but nothing excessive stay at max 15 over the limit, this way u wont loose many points and its a safe speed not like your doing 200 clicks.

No point in racing tools on the street with fully sic starlets and pulsars, or even commodores or fords.

Dont knock it till you've tried it. I got stung many years ago (showing my age here) in Sydney by a cop in a cooper S with surfboards on the roof.

I was driving a cooper s myself at the time and thought he just wanted to play.

Had a look at his car while he was writing me up and lo and behold, the surboards were actually bolted to the roof wracks.

Getting booked interstate wasnt so bad in those days as there was no loss of license points. Just the fine.

Our ages aren't that different then Noel...

I got booked by Police Fixed Wing Aircraft from Hazelbrook > Woodford early 80s. It adds new meaning to 'Point to Point' ie from white line to white line.

I realise now that I've posted this story up before, in which case, I don't think that Dr Alzheimer is giving me the right meds.

In your case, your legal defence could have been based on the legal premise called 'Agent Provocateur' except that SAU legal eagle 4TeeCal says that it can't be used in traffic offences.

There's a legal defense that talks about lingerie Kylie Minogue models?

"This court case is useless without pics."

:(

...in fact, hasn't there been a case where a provocative billboard was used as a defence? FAIL?

As far as i know, thats Entrapment and against the law ive had them do it to me afew times. If you record it and can prove there doing it, there badge is goneski.

Just smile, rev the engine and cruise along.

Cam

I have seen a black possibly midnight blue mitsubushi rallyart colt, no antennas although you could see the strobe box on the dash. it had pulled over a audi tt on the M5 westbound lane, uniformed police.

just adds that they will use any car in the disposal to pull ppl over

btw this was couple months back

Entrapment is only illegal in the USA. It's a legal practice for Australian police to engage in.

It's totally immoral and against the spirit of our legal system, as far as I'm concerned, but you can still get busted.

It's a joke, and if it's legal just give the pr|cks a solute and be on your way, if you don't have any illegal parts strapped to your car that is lol.

  • 1 year later...

hmmm, thats an interesting thought. I am sure there are police officers out there that own all sorts of cars and drive them to and from work in their uniforms. I wonder if they have the ability to book you when they are off duty?

I knew a guy who owned a VL calais, the series 2 version with the transparent grill. He put 4 strobe lights bhind it - a blue one, two white ones and a red one... He used to pull people over at night time for laughs (apparently a big offense). But if anyone saw this they would say "I saw a VL cop car pull someone over, they drive anything these days!".

I have not seen a legitimate undercover cop car without the standard black on yellow plates, thats my theory.

My mate is in a wheel chair from a very similar incedent he drives a kia sportage 4x4 and was flashed by a white ve sv6 which he thought was a police car they chased him for a couple of k's and he lost control near the local skate park decided to run didnt see a fence and tripped over and badly broke his leg now in a wheel chair copping shit from all us boys but i met the guys that chased him at a party and there only young 17 year old doing it for a joke with some red and blue strobe lights i asked both of them to stop doing it before they kill some one hopefully they listen and learn

A little off topic but cops dont always ride in commodores and falcons.

I was up behind kariong shell loitering about one night about 2 years ago, the shittest little car came up, like one of the smallest cars on the road i think it was a charade, late 80's model or something, anyway pulled up and 5 cops jumped out in jumpsuits, started harrassing all of us.

One: Holy thread revival bat man!

Two: If they had red and blue flashing lights, why was your mate trying to out run them? Something to hide?

Yeah, I'm a bit puzzled by that one as well. Why run? Things are not always what they seem...

Not really on topic, but on this topic;

I was on my motorbike a few years back; saw the flashing lights, pulled over with the shits, thought "Here we go, I wasn't even doing anything wrong  "

One of the officers jumps out, runs up to me; Turns out, the strap of my Ventura bag was hanging down near the wheel, he saw it and didn't want me to have a spill!

So he tucks it in, slaps me on the shoulder, gives me thumbs up, runs back to the car.

No fine , no rasping

What would've happened if I'd run?

I also know that we loaned the Queensland police 2 HSV's the other day to trial as under cover cars. they apparantly now change cars every 6 months. i have seen the VW golf and also a mini. The do it so people do not know what to expect.

    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
    • It's been quite the ordeal but hey, at least you figured it out.
    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
