Epa Notice On The Night Of Beach To Burger Cruise

Recommended Posts

They don't need to KNOW that it's over 90db, they need to suspect that it is. Guilty until proven innocent is how it works in Australia with this stuff...

And the cost of proving yourself innocent rests solely on you.

Same i don't have 1 either ..... If i get 1 im going to skitz i went to so much trouble to get a N1 exhaust so i don't have cop trouble!!!!!!!!!!

Fingers crossed .

I've never had an EPA notice for exhaust noise, but my GT-R is fairly quiet (even with the 3" exhaust).

Can you just pop along to a testing place and get a test done without the EPA, I'd prefer to get it tested and know it's leagal when it suits me, not when I have to prove soemthing to the EPA....

I cant believe it, I have one but not from this cruise.

How did they get all the plate numbers down while everyone was driving past???? did they get a video camera out and pause it everytime a skyline went by.

Why dont cops just go n shoot some 15 year olds and make up some stupid story to justify themselves.

what a load of rubbish... 90% of the bikes that hammer past my place would be WELL over 90db... should be the same set of rules for everyone... I understand it helps them be seen etc but most of them are stupidly loud... I can hardly hear the imports in comparison, even those with fully hektic exhausts :(

adam in the rolla might of got one also

im all sweet atm, but i had twin mufflers on at the time so pretty sure it should be sweet .

so what do they want you do to ? get a DB test ?

lol nice hello kittty

they might of thought i just got stuck in the line up, bloody stupid wagon in the way of that rolla's number plate

Was my car really that bad? :) Only my valve stem seals which are gone anyway, easily fixed.

And I haven't received anything so far.

my bile has a plate fixed to it's stock exhaust that says it is less than 96db @ 7500 rpm... the redline is 18,500 rpm and i would be guessing it would be well and truly over 100db at that..

nick, bikes have a higher limit - think it's 9Xdb or something.

ah okay fair enough... still, some of them are just ridiculous, even the loudest import doesn't compare... some of the big old school V8's are MUCH louder as well, I don't think turbos are that bad... after all they have a dirty big turbine in the exhaust

ex gates are another story tho :)

Looking at my notice...

Gday all, your cruise happened to be on the same night as a regular motorbike cruise that occurs in Melbourne every Thursday night . Sort of a fast and furious get together except its for motorcyclists.

Motorbike riders gather at the BP servo in Marine Pde Elwood at 7.30pm, there are up to 100 motorbikes that gather for the weekly ride. Many bikes are heavily modified, especially their pipes, unregistered, unroadworthy and some riders are unlicensed, this ride is monitored by the cops including cops who mingle in the group as normal random riders in plain gear on unmarked bikes. The cops also follow in marked, unmarked cars keeping on eye on the groups behaviour.

The cops would have been there only for the motorcyclists, hence cameras set up etc when you all rolled by. It was just bad luck for you guys, they may not have pinged any motorcyclists but thought we can get these dudes to justify the costs of us being here.

I wprked with a guy in the city Sat Night that gave out 13 EPA notices and I am positive not one would fail the test. He just EPA every car that was louder than stock. What a joke if you ask me.

    • The speedo's can be very conservative, when my Mazda NC MX5 speedo is showing 118kph, the GPS, and a calibrated radar.... cop mate.....hits me at around 110kph +/- 1 or 2 kph, and that is on a 215/45 17, stock tyres size is 205/45 17 as well, so weirdly conservative with stock tyre size When my Commodore speedo red 116kph GPS had me at 110kph After doing some offset and clearance measurements to see what can fit the NC on 17x8 +40, without guard rolling or rubbing anything at my current ride height, I've decided that when my tyres are toast, I'm going to fit 225/45 17 and see where that gets me IRT actual speed of my speedo and GPS/radar From the online calculator I should be still be doing around 5kph under an actual 110kph when the speedo is showing 110kph My ADHD requires that when I'm doing 110kph on the speedo, that the actual road speed is actually really close to that, and not alot slower And going from 205 to 225 still keeps the car within the %/mm allowable in the NSW vehicle rules and regulations, which is nice, as long as I'm looking at the latest version that is.....LOL https://www.nsw.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-02/RMS-13.464-Light-vehicle-modifications-Vehicle-Standards-Information-No-6-November-2013.pdf
    • Take the value it measured as, and pick the closest range available that is above the reading on the screen.   Also, no point just testing the coils. Read what has been said again. You need to test all your wiring, everything.
    • Does the scanner do all the CUs in the car, or only the ECU?
    • @666DAN sorry to bring you and old thread.     I've got my de+t done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.    Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd when selected . But nothing when in  drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic. I'm sure there is maybe 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Do ya have any ideas?     Cheers man
    • Well I recently changed my rear axles and was thinking if I bumped anything, I have been driving the car for a while now though... But it has been raining today so everything is wet under the wheel arches. Brakes feel fine and can't hear any of the metal screamers, I had a squeak coming from one of the handbrake drums but that seems to have gone away a while ago. I was going down a hill when it lit up and I did feel the abs bite for a second and question why it did it?
