Shit guys don't get too emotional about it....let the kids have their fun.

Having said that, I would hate to think there are heaps of idiots driving around thinking they have beaten a genuine GTR. So maybe it's a fair call.

The thing is, a GL Lancer IS a riced up piece of shit! If they at least turbo it and shove some bigger brakes (including discs on rear) on then it would be at least semi-respectable (I have seen some like this), but it still has crappy FWD.

I agree with most on this thread......kit & guards are okay but don't badge it unless it is the real thing!!!

To throw a complete spanner in the works does anyone know about the purple 'Gracer' R33 GTR (not sure which tuning company uses it but is used in a few ads)?? Apparently it started life as a R33 Gtst and the ower completely stripped it and rebuilt it as a GTR using all the original gear - guards/kit/engine/interior etc etc. Who is going to deny the owner the right to call it a GTR after all that work??!!!!

Nicely spotted there 2fardown!

I think GTR bodykits on GTST's looks great, but I always think its incredibly try hard, and disrespectful to real GTR's.. it also drags down the opinion, looks and 'rarity' of the real gtr's roaming the roads.

Every second GTST has a GTR kit.. If I had a GTST and was not happy with how it looks, I'd get a unique kit, not a GTR copy so I could look like every other skyline on the road.

When I see a skyline drive past heres my opinion..

GTST with no kit, but big fmic, performance mods etc.. cool.

GTR kits on GTST - a bit lame

GTR kits with GTR badging on GTST - super lame! throw a brick..

GTR.. omfg that is teh shit

Dan, that's ok, there's no harm in putting badges off a car that's slower than the one you're driving

When the V8 badges off my Commodore were taken, I immediately bought replacements. But then thought "what's the point? who cares if it's a V8 or not and they'll probably just get stolen again anyway" so I never put them back on.

On a totally unrelated note, I now have a V8 PC ;)

mmm, gracer....its owned by Advan performance in silverwater.

And I can assure you that all those guards, badges and running gear don't make much difference, my car was over 2 sec quicker when we were down at Wakefield Park.

I used to have a 1990 GTS-t Type M, and I also did the GTR front clip swap it due to the T's front clip being very unsightly. It looked sweet but I did leave the rear badge saying GTS-t. It was a GTS-t and thier was no reason to put the badge of a GTR on it. Besides it only had the RB20DET in it.

Now if I did the 26 swap which alot of people here in Japan do, then .... hmmm... naw I would still leave the GTS-t badge on it...hehe!

Now I have a real GTR .....with many problems of course!!!

ive bought a nice r32 gts-t yellow with gt-r front bar and rear wing and the guy at the car yard try to tell me to put on a gt-r badge say it would look sik so i turn around and say ur kiddin right !! anyway i think that gt-r badges should only be on real gt-rs as i got a few mate who are lucky enough to own them and seein the money they pour into them would just be a sin as for the kit on my car i got it like that and i think it looks nice but for me NO GT-R badge will ever touch the body of my car as long as i own it and im the 1st to admit its not a gt-r when asked if it is

    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
    • Not yet quite as bad as what we've seen a Jim Berry clutch do in an R32 GTR though when it decided to cut a chassis rail in half... Still very very gnarly and a great reason to avoid.
