Sleepy was kind enough to take me for a spin in his skyline with a GT-RS hks turbo, very responsive, was wondering if anyone on here has a Garret GT3076r on a rb25 I can compare it to please? Don't really want to drive it, just sit in the passengers seat and see how it goes.

Am thinking about both turbo's atm.

thx

Your spot on wanting to find a ride with the Turbo your considering. Sorry I dont know any1 with this set-up. It also depends on other mods you have/planning.

It's not the same but perhaps the forced induction threads may help. Use the search facility at the base of the main page.

Forced Induction - Search for "3076r"

I will also be getting a 3076r installed towards the end of Jan start of Feb, hopefully if John (trojan) is free by then.. but i will be getting a water meth injection kit installed as well, so it will be a bit different (increased timing etc) from a standard setup..

Yeah I new Mick (bullet32) was getting a 3076r, was hoping someone in canberra already had one, as I'm hoping to get the work started sometime this month. I have most of the supporting mods for this turbo already. How much is the water meth injection setup costing you? evl?

Water meth kits are around $400AU to $800AU+ depending on the type of kit you get and what extras it has (safety cut off switches etc). As for installation, I was thinking of doing it myself as it isnt very hard to do, but John is installing the 3076r + tuning it, so I might as well get him to install the lot..

I have a Snow Performance stage 2 boost cooler waiting to go into my car, just remember though that a WMI kit does need you to check that the reservoir has fluid in it regularly, if the car is tuned to make full use of the WMI kit and its empty your engine may not like it.

yeah i've looked into this, there are different brands (Devils Own WM kit) which include fluid level switches that notifies you if the WM level is low, i've also heard of timing retard/cutout switches as well, they detect if the reservoir is running low or empty, and if so, then decrease the timing and/or boost pressure by going into safe mode (a bit dearer but its worth it if it ends up saving the engine)..

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
    • Yeah, shame. Maybe  driver's carpet is available 🙏. I am waiting for both amayama and nangun to confirm.
