thanks boys. ash, those case look great. that is definitely like what i'm after.

you've given me a bit to think about. this weekend i'm going to talk to some local stereo guys again, but if I need to go further a field I'll give your guys a go too jas. cheers. ;)

I quite like this case too http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=6423

and this one would suit as well http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=6675

it seems the silverstone ones will have something suitable. and perhaps I can use the sonos gear to multi-room it and use the bose amps and speakers (just buy the non-amped sonos receivers). lots of possibilities. :)

edit: OK we have a new contender!!! http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=4827

Oh ye there are heaps of cool cases out there.

Just gotta pick one that fits all the AMP/Recievers etc that you pick so they work with size/colour and so on in that respect.

But no question talking to pro's about the sound setup. Id imagine to get the best sounding thing will be a fair bit of dicking around. Even where furniture is would play a part when it comes to acoutstics... and when your spending 20k thats fairly important ;)

well got a quote from bang and olufsen the other day. some really nice gear. looking at the beosound5 and some beosound 9 speakers, but the speakers are stupid expensive. $13K for the pair! makes the bose stuff look dirt cheap, and the sonos stuff seem like it must be stolen... the actual BO system is not too bad. about $8K for the beosound5 which is awesome. lossless CD conversion to it's hard drive. and it has net radio etc. and the interface is sooo cool. the bloody remote costs $1100 though which is a bit rude, but BO stuff has always been expensive.

so I'm still kind of deciding what to do....

beosound 5: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beosound5

beolab 9: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beolab9 (these and the beosound in the lounge room)

beovox 1 in the kitchen: http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beovox1

beolab 6000 for the front of the house. http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beolab6000

and for outside can probably use the sound from the beolab 9s with the doors open.

but to be honest I think the BO stuff might end up too $$ in the end. I mean their 40inch LCD High def Tv is $22,000 FFS! and their stereos only work with their TVs...

also considering the beosound 3200 instead of the 5. http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beosound3200

Wow mate, that's like a 50k+ system.

Surely you could fit in 2.5k for my media centre in there somewhere :)

yeah $50K is way over the budget. like more than double. maybe triple even. I certainly wouldn't pay $22K for a 40inch LCD. I mean my bravia XBR 46" retailed for about $5K when new and even that was pricey I thought.

so yeah, I think the BO gear might be out. If I went for cheaper speakers, and maybe skip the beosound5 then it could be doable, but when you are up $1100 for a remote things can easily get out of hand.

an update for anyone interested. in the end we did get the bang and olufsen gear. got the beosound 5, and the beolab 9 loudspeakers (or might have ordered the 10s in the end, I forget now), and some more speakers and multiroom gear, another remote (cost about 2 bloody grand!) and even got their beocom2 cordless phones which are kick ass. http://www.bang-olufsen.com/beocom2 in plain aluminium of course. :D I'll let you guys know what it's like once it all arrives and is installed. the beosound 5 system is pretty cool and gives lossless sound from CD unlike MP3 etc. the only real downside of course was that it smashed the 20k budget. on the plus side I think the BO gear will hold it's value fairly well and should last forever just about.

    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
    • Well the articals keep saying a Q50s (Skyline in Japan) with a new Manual gearbox. I like the talk about the new looks with the round tail lights. I hope they bring back the retro look like they did with the Z
