And your call sign is?

jetwreck....yours?

Also change is pretty good as long as you bounce off the limiter!....it's just the shift down thats crap.

ive found if my foot is on the floor, it will change when IT wants to, not when i hit the lever lol

maybe ill let it get a little closer to redline :P

that said, im still VERY interested in a shift kit. i dont think an ECU remap will affect gear changes much. as already stated, the speed of the shift is in the mechanics of the box itself.

i still rekon its smooth to save the driveline additional stress. but we all know you can take driveline components well over the factory 'limits' hehe

A valve body upgrade (aka shift kit) will make the gearbox stronger so at least that part is taken care of.

The ECU may be able to make a slight difference (My brother is a ford guru and says that ford gear shifts could be sped right up through the ecu for a particular model) but any improvement here could have a negative impact on the reliability of the gearbox - so thats why the above mentioned valve body upgrade is a better option, since it can then handle the extra pressure put on the gearbox.

Not sure about the rest of the driveline though. I had a shift kit in my last stagea (s2) for almost 2 years and it never had any trouble at all - best mod I ever did and it made the car perfect to drive.

I'm also very interested to hear that our auto box is the same as the one in the 350Z - thats great news. :)

Problem?

"The gear are slipping! It does not change when it should & there is a delay when it should shift... See (show tiptronic delay)?"

"This will only get worse until WE have to replace the whole transmission which will cost thousands!"

"I heard that there is a company that can strengthen the gearbox for around $500-600!"

You see Iain, getting the kit fitted now will "save" you money in the long term, something I am sure the Mrs will appreciate :P

Hey man, that is what makes Melbourne beautiful.

We can have 4 straight days of 43 degrees book ended by 38 degree days and still be optimistic of rain at any moment!

haha this is almost exactly how I got the shift kit on the last stagea. However that one was $440 including a transmission service and that was ~3 years ago now. If I mentioned $500-600 it wouldn't matter what else I said, it'd be too expensive...

that and I no longer live in Adelaide so there's that as well...

    • Definitely a hearty eater when we go out, I consider these meals my cheat day as I've been watching my calories in and calories out pretty hard since my little fun size stroke, I've gone from a fat boy of 89 Kg, I'm only 165cm tall/short, down to a almost semi lean 73 Kg over the last few years, I'm currently around 17% body fat which my doctor is very happy with, but, my goal is to slowly get down to and maintain 15%,so yeah, I want all of the protein, carbs, fats and sugars when I go out for a binge
    • There was a great one on Victoria Rd in Gladesville too back in the day. I can only assume GTSBoy is thinking of the mill up on the wollondilly, no restaurant there any more but they have restored the original steam engine on site and run it every few months, have an annual steampunk festival etc @The Bogan, you came to the wrong town for restaurants. we have a few reasonable asian and indian options but the Paragon is as good as it gets otherwise. That brewery is apparently just opened, been meaning to give it a go some time. The Highlands have plenty of fancy options but I suspect you are more a hearty eater than fancy eater
    • Thanks for coming back to post the update, maybe it will help out the next person!
    • Going by the intake & injectors I'd be guessing it's a DE, check the head casting number, should be 5L8 on a DET, 5L7 I think is the DE number.
