i thought it suited :(

i wanted to see skylines actually enter rather then just cruising ell wel

well unfortunately my gearbox was making some bearing type noise 1 week prior to the event so that screwed me over, wasnt able to attend.

i wouldve loved to show most the v8 turnout what skylines can do :D.

ahhh well theres next year for me, with much bigger setup ;)

went yesterday wasnt a bad day, but no1 knew what they were doing in the stampede event. apart from that 180sx that was going sideways up the straight.

Firstly - to the guy with the S2 33 - nice car..

...

I think the reason why skyline or other import drivers stay away is the sheer stupidity of the v8 meathead crowd. Sure there are some nice 8's that go, no doubt. But there are the fair share of crappers that go aswell. But cos they have a v8 and set of straight pipes the moronic crowd thinks they are gods.

The other reason I think it's not worth entering is that cruising is a joke. I found it funny that on the TV add for the Easternats it said to avoid the traffic and stay home this easter - go to the easternats. If anyone else here has been an entrant you'll know exactly how much of a joke cruising is and how stupid saying that in their tv add was.

For those that havent - heres a rundown

you go flat out down the straight to the first corner, slow to 5 k's cos the traffic is banked up infront of you, crawl through the next few corners to the nack straight, flat out for 10 secs then back to a crawl. A lap at "cruising" speeds takes 8-10 minutes.

You could probably get around faster on a pushbike... although the officials would still tell ya off if you popped a mono down the back straight...

Burnouts, well watching them it's easy to spot the guys that go to shows and do a lot of burnouts and the ones that just practise in the kmart carpark.

And finally, if you have ever had to deal with Jon Davison and getting "different" cars entered, scutineered, you'll know he knows as much about his own event as britney spears does about singing.

but thats just my 2c...

that mighty boy was mad. Had a huge day out, was nice to see a few skylines out there..the perfect day for it on monday..but my head hurts bad and I have to work today...so feel fantastic...lol

omg at the amount of shit the guys on the PA were giving skylines everytime they came up LOL. they really dont like the rice burners lol.

yeah i saw manni there in his r33gtst a r32gtr, the white r33 gtr from sau, and a silver r33gtst.

did anyone see that 180sx? the japarehouse one who was just drifting the track? lol

Yeah f**k'em, although I did not goto Easternats I see where you are coming from.

Guess it's the same when you see a Commie at a Drift Event but I'm not sure if the guys at the PA give them shit..?

Anyone see a white Nissan 180SX with a HKS POWERS sticker across the windscreen?

"Boof" is his name, met him a few times and that's his 180SX with a high mount turbo + all the goodies under the hood.

couldnt have said it better myself!

the amount of times i had people say to me this weekend "why dont you put your car in?" and the amount of times i told them "sorry, but burnouts arent my cup o tea!"

i was only too happy to stay well away from yob fest 2009! i like my car the way it is... NOT BENT OR IMPOUNDED!!! :D

sorry if i got a bit carried away...

    • Nah, they'll do it without a receipt, tell em roughly when it was, that it was cash, youll likely only get store credit, but that gets you some dollars towards the newer better shovel, or other item you need/want later.   Still take it back and have a crack at returning it.
    • Nah. Was just wondering if you were having a small stroke or if there was some slur/gaf/inside joke that I wasn't aware of.
    • That was a fark up, it's Salamanca Place I was thinking of. And now I'm curious as to what potential slur/gaf I have caused with Salamander Road, ha ha!
    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
