Hi guys,

just got a 32 and need a few things done

Prob could do with a propper service and i has no tools so will need a name for servicing + also maybe re-install of aircon (was removed by previous owner)

need the suspension re-doing (coilys winding up and alignment and tweak for more grip etc.)

and need a good auto elec who knows about car alarms as i need the viper alarm in the car looking at and the door trigger wiring in

so if you know of a good workshop you can recomend in Launceston i'll be very glad to hear

Thanks,

Tom

for the alarm id be going to talk to Matt or Arther at auto barn in kings meadows

wheel alingment head to quick fit

and a basic service can be done by really any-1, boost automotive, fuel tech, rons automotive

Wayne Nichols at Parkside automotive.

70 Bathurst St Lonnie

He prepares my R32 gtst circuit car and is fantastic.

He also has a great auto elecy on site

He's probably the most competitive on price... some others are soooo expensive

well the service is going to have to be pretty extensive

will be getting all the fluids changed including ps and hicas (unless i get a lock bar sorted)

need a proper alignment and ride heights changing, camber adjusted etc etc

Rocket_Rosco - what exactly does he do race prep wise? engine tuning, suspension, corner weighting, or just general servicing?

how is he price wise?

and how badly does he mark up prices of oils etc? (would it be cheaper for me to but what i want him to change?)

Sorry for the long time to reply, have been away from the computer for days.

for an example, Ford charged one of Wayne's new customers $355 for a basic service on a EB Falcon and didn't even fill up the windscreen washer bottle. Wayne quotes $120 for the same service and he does it properly.

Give him a call with all the things you'd like done and he'll give you an idea of price.

thanks for that mate, may have to wait a week or two so i have enough cash to get him to do everything i need but i think i'll give him a try

Rons automotive, I have never seen a normal car in his work shop, all's that they seem to do is work on imports, which must tell you something. they are all to happy to help and dont charge through the roof.

boost automotive, i was there today putting the car over the pits and looking around and talking to the guy they seemed to have it all worked out,

If i was taking my import some where to get worked on, it would be one of these two places, yes there are other good mechenics out there but you want some one who works on them all the time and not just guessing on what they are doing

thats my two bob worth and why is my spell checker not working any more?????

thanks guys

looks like the abs unit is on the way out so the full service will have to put on hold

anyone know anywhere who is good with brakes and things?

i just need somewhere that can take the abs unit apart and put new seals in (can provide them if need be)

Tas Brakes are they guys to go to about brakes. they are on the corner of margaret and fredrik? street.

Simon in there is very very pedantic and i have never seen or heard a bad thing about them.

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
