Hey,

I have some nismo wheels (not the ones everyone wants, just some boring ones that no one cares about lol) and i like them a lot but they are just a bit dull. I'm happy with the rim bit because its a nice silver than can be polished to look real good but the inner piece is just that silvery colour that is dull and boring.

Anyway, is it possible to get the inner part resprayed black? I was thinking it'd look awesome if i got the inside that real nice shiny black colour and have 'nismo' stickers or 'nismo' sprayed onto it in white letters. So then it'll have the black in the middle and the shiny silver rim on the outside. I don't know if thats possible though.

Can 2 piece wheels be taken apart and put back together easily? I know theres like 100 bolts around the side of my wheel, or once they are on is it kind've impossible to take apart again? And is it possible for my type of wheel to be resprayed another colour like black?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

yep you can do all of the things asked, a rim repairer would be best to get them dis-assembled, then take the centres to a paint shop or a powdercoater to blast and coat, then back to the rim shop for re-assembly

I didnt pay anything close to that... Was more like $100 for the whole set including clear coat. I took it to a commercial powder coater not a rim specialist though. Photo here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...t&p=4428017

Yours look great, it'd be good if i can get it done for that price. I'll talk to a couple people i know, hopefully one of them can do it.

not a bad turnout for stock R33 rims

Damn Chris,

I thought they were aftermarket rims!!! I had to look twice!!!

Very Very nice work!!!

I cant believe you made those stockies look so tough!!! im sure alot of owners with Stock rims would rather this cheaper option...then buyer other rims...

Well done mate!!

Wow, sounds like I probably did then. I used to Live next door to that powder coater where I got them done. Thats about 2 years ago now... maybe he cut me a deal? I definately wasnt expensive in my case.

I would spray my rims a seperate colour as well but they are all chipped and scratched lol. So i don't know how that'd turn out.

Yours look good though Chris.

I'm now not sure what colour i should respray mine with. I was thinking black but my car is also black and i don't want every part on my car the same colour or it just looks too black. Maybe i should get them sprayed a gold colour or something? I have no idea.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what colour i should get?

not white !! haha

search around your area for powdercoaters, see what suppliers they use. the Dulux colour range is pretty small, some might use rohm and haas which have a much more comprehensive range of colours.

but atleast dulux will send you as a consumer a colour swatch book from their website if you want to check out whats available.

a nice black chrome would be good like below

do it yourself if you are short on cash and/or have the time

We did it on our MPS 6, resprayed the RX8 wheels we bought for it in a charcoal black,

just rub them back, couple of cans of desired paint, then a coat of clear.

The finish is pretty damn good for $100 and a days work, plus any repairs are easy because you have the exact colour for touch-ups.

but if people are quoting like $150 for a professional powdercoat (sounds cheap to me) then go for it.

Off memory its like $50-$100 a rim for powder coating depending who you go to, atleast that's up here.

Hey mate,

Any chance of pm'n me a contact or two, would like to get my 33 wheels machined/ coloured.

Tomek

Thats very similar to mine. Black Onyx is what I got from memory.

Anyone got any recommended contacts (preferred Brisbane) for powder coater?

MintR33: where did you get those NISMO stickers? Ebay? The LMGT4s I have are like 9yrs old (looked at the production date stickers) and the NISMO stickers are fading, scratches on the paint etc.

Someone help me make my car look like this pls!

Sorry for the late reply, yes I got them on Ebay (do a search for items located overseas)

Also I had my rims done by:

    • You very likely need to get it on a dyno and tune it. My assumption is, you've got an RB25DET tune in it, which has a different manifold, different injectors, and different cams as a minimum. What O2 sensor are you running?   When you say it runs extremely rich from idle all the way to redline, is this just free revving it you see that?
    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
