Hey Everyone...

Do you want to check out the new Marulan Driver Training Centre?

AUTOsports Australia would like to invite you to come and check the place out for yourself. Come down and have a drive and see how challenging this gem of a little track is and how tricky it will be to master.

FIRSTLY… REMEMBER, THIS ISNT A RACETRACK, IT’S A DRIVER TRAINING FACILITY. THERE IS NO OFFICIAL TIMING, THERE IS NO SPEED DEMON REWARDS

When? Sunday 5th April

Where? Prairie Oak Road Marulan NSW

How Much? $50.00 (Yes you are correct, that says only $50.00)

What do I Need? Helmet (you can also hire one)

What time does it start? 9.00am

What time does it finish? 4.00pm

Can passangers ride? Yes for an additional $20.00 (Time to scare the wife hehe)

Do you need to purchase a special licence? No, there are no other charges whatsoever

AUTOsports Australia is passionate about introducing new people into motorsports scene. This is a great (and cheap) way to have a look at not just a new driving training centre but a technical and well thought out “drivers” facility.

Anyway… the whole idea of this event is for you to come and check it out for yourself and learn for yourself.

Unlike a few others I could have claimed to have infact be one of the first to drive around this new track as I did over eighteen months ago and now having seen these facilities come out of the ground and to life and if you consider yourself to be even half-a-driver, I know you will get to love the challenge of this gem of a little track.

So what is the place like you ask? It is both tight and flowing series of equally left and right hand turns, it’s slightly undulating and it isn’t as wide as a normal racetrack though more than wide enough to facilitate its intended use.

It will reward superior driver skill and precision yet forgiving and thought out to accommodate run of if need be. I would say that most cars wouldn’t get out of third gear even up the main straight. Like similar facilities in the country, Haunted Hills, Fairburn Park and others… this technical and rewarding track will test your nerve and skill.

So if you are a seasoned trackday warrior or someone completely new to the trackday scene and want to have a look, you will get a lot out of this place.

So in a few weeks time (Sunday 5th April) instead of sitting on the lounge, jump in either your stock as a rock road car or highly modified road registered track weapons cruise down the Hume Hwy about an hour from the Cross-roads at Liverpool and come check this place out for yourself!

The format of the day is going to be;

Sign on between 8.00am and 8.45am at the administration office

Drivers briefing at 9.00am sharp.

First group is on the track at 9.15am

All cars marshal up to the starting area

5 cars will be allowed on the circuit at a time, evenly spaced out

Each session will include an out-lap, 4 full laps and a cool down and in-lap

Track closes at 4.00pm

Lap times are around 45 to 50 seconds a lap. With 4 laps and an out-lap… each session will be shorter than the normal 15 minutes but keeping it rolling out all day will see you get plenty of time on the track as well as time to socialize with other rev-heads while you wait to head back out.

There is an impressive canteen available as well as ample shelter for those spectators wanting to get out of the weather. Another great thing is that over 98% of the track can be seen from the general viewing area.

Some of the other information that you need for the day is as follows;

There is a 90db noise limit. This is strictly enforced… if your car is over 90db you will not be permitted on the track. Management check and measure the noise of all cars and there is no waiver.

All Drivers and Passangers must have an approved helmet as well as long sleeve shirt, long pants and enclosed shoes.

All loose items must be removed from your car.

Cars with leaking fluids will not be allowed on the track under any circumstances.

It is up to you to make sure that you car is in sound mechanical condition.

Some others have suggested that there is an 80kph speed limit, this is not the case.

AIM and Performance boxes are permitted.

Facilities management will be strictly monitoring the standard of driving at all times. Rules will be explained at the drivers briefing and anyone acting outside those stipulated rules will be asked to leave the premises immediately.

I encourage you to come down and have a look for yourself and I am thankful to Garry & Natalie Willmington the Proprietors of the Marulan Driver Training Centre for the opportunity to bring this event to AUTOsports Australia patrons.

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
