Full Stereo Install

Well Ive had my full car stereo sitting in my room for around 8 months now.

need it installed.

JVC dvd head unit.

Infinity kappa splits in rear parcel.

Carizzma splits in front.

Fusion 1000w RMS 15"

Fusion 1000W RMS amp.

JVC amp to run the splits.

I need a sub box made up ?

Im guessing the install will cost around $500+ ?

I have a couple mates that work at tonkins, But they are still pretty expensive.

if u pull out the factory deck and all old speakers and run all the wires from the deck to the boot where the amp will be (rca's, power, speaker, remote, ground) and get a installer just to do the connecting of the deck and amp you will save yourself a some $$$

I actually tried installing most of it myself.

I really hate jobs where your ripping parts off etc.

So I wanna get it done right.

i did my install with a mates help

took the seats and carpetting off etc

looks ok and sound ohh so good

all up cost me $200

man try doing most of it urself its easy, look at the positives the most damage u will do to the amps are blow and fuse and just get tonkins or someone to do ur deck, i do all mine, and mates and could tell u over hear how to do it all, JB was gunna charge a guy i know 170 to change over just 4 speakers i did it all in 2 and a half hours and made 100.

Honestly guys. Ive installed past systems myself too.

I get really frustrated tho. things dont fit properly. screws go missing , damage plastics ..etc etc.

Im not worried too much about the price.

Just wouldn't mind some ideas on prices. and respectable places to go.

I want it done right the first time.

Doing it yourself can void your systems warranty ?

In my days of installing(since 83) I have seen cars burn, short out everything,fry computers with test lights, screws in petrol tank, holes drilled into battery ,wires in the gas pedals or brakes, broken $$$$ dash pieces and systems that might as well stay in the box cause they sound so bad. if your not confident dont do it. lots of people think they know how correctly but few do it right???including installers.speak to them and see photos of there work ??

a 15 is going to take a big box did you know that ? and boxes cost a fair bit if built custom??? a generic box will have generic sound and be heavy as hell

a 15 might fit in the side panel or in the spare well but that will exceed 500 for that install alone? my 12 fit fine with room to spare in the side well, and cara has a 12 in her spare well ?

and you didnt say what size speakers splits you have, infinity will sound better up front then the pioneers(carozza)? if the models are the ones I think they are?

is the jvc player double din or single din?

dont forget the antenna adapter? use one,, do not hack off the wires and solder new ones on.nissan has lousy antennas to start with after hacking they wont work for crap. do you have sat nav from factory ?

and a suitable waterproof fuse/curcuit breaker needs to be at the battery,, it protects the car,,,, not the amp!!! a short from the battery without one will burn the car up.

and you need some decent size cable to go from the battery back,, around 50-100 for a kit to cover that, 4 ga or ?

Look since so many people are offering a hand on here telling you they will do it for this much and that much and they dont even run a business I can safely tell you i have never in all my years in car audio seen a home job done properly.

Of course its easy when you dont know what the hell you are doing, and since noone is around to tell these people they arent doing it correct they think they can come on a public forum and ask people for money to fit stuff into their car.

Shit if it was me id want to get paid for some of these professionals to work on my car, because i sure as hell appreciate it more than they ever will.

And before all the monkeys start jumping on the trees flaming me that they have done bazillion installs in their cars, their mates cars, their sisters car whatever consider the fact that you have no f'en idea on correct speaker placement, correct tweeter phase alignment, correct way to seal a speaker (yes last time i check the speaker moves backwards and forwards so u need to isolate the movements from each to stop frequency cancellation), proper wiring skills, proper insulation skills and god knows what else.

Now to the original poster, coming on a forum and asking how much to pay for a full stereo install well all you will get is the self made heroes where their shit dont stink and think everything is easy ( i wonder why they dont go built a rocket and make it fly shit thats easy too) then you will get others sending you to Autobarn, also full of 16 year olds who are as dodgy as the person who taught them who is now 18 years old and then there is the real professionals that dont do this shit anymore because they are sick and tired of everyone being an expert on how to fit speakers.

Its easy everyone can unscrew a couple of screws and screw in a speaker but ask them anything about vehicle acoustics or correct placement they look at you like your an idiot. Remember rockets are also made from screws so technically all the self made experts must have one in their backyard, hell who needs NASA jo blo made one for $50 in his backyard with his mate.

Thats my whinge for the year thank you have a nice day .

lol stop whining george ,havnt seen you guys for ages! you are right tho. its the reason why i stay out of most things these days. at the end of the day people know where the profesionals are, sooner or later they will come to us to ether do the job right the first time around or when something goes wrong with the back yard job.
