In regard to brake fluid, look at RBF600 from bike shops or similar, its DOT 4 and not compatible with all other DOT 4's so flush it out completely when you put it in :blink:

But its not DOT 5 so I recommend it as it has less chance of getting moisture in it and it doesn't contain the same chemicals that DOT 5 does.

The 1 litre oil overfill is not required, but some people do it....

The fire extinguisher, my one is in the rear, its a stretch but if I did flip the car and there was smoke coming out, the fire extinguisher wouldn't be the first thing on my mind anyway, and I never plan on doing that :blink:

I'd more likely expect my engine bay to catch on fire or something.

If it goes in the front that is the better way to do it but I wanted to avoid drilling any new holes in the car, so its upto the individual :)

As far as brake fluid goes im running castrol SRF, the car has a Trust sump extension for some extra oil, but might just put a little more in for safety, and sort of agree about the car being on its roof thing, not quiet sure if the Fire extinguisher is gonna be the first thing i reach for. im more concerned will it pass scrutineering?

good luck taking off your seatbelt (which will either be stuck from the load or falling onto your head) or opening the door.

Only thing you could do in this situation is wait for rescue to show up and have easy access to the fire extinguisher.

As i explained above, its a 5minute job to mount fire extinguisher under the driver seat which is a much safer option.

I was upsidedown in my old car a few years back. The hole things abit disorientating.. I remember being upright, then it was like i woke up or something and i was upsidedown. I had the fire extinguisher in the back, just behind the front passenger seat. I didnt actualy think to get it :blink: but there was no chance in hell i would of been able to anyways.

I was pretty calm but so disorientated I had trouble finding the door thingy or window switch.....

I rekon the fire extinguisher should go in the front. Maybe even on the console thingy just behind the handbreak. That way you can grab it an be on your merry way.

ok well maybe a lil better explanation would be appreciated, on the passenger side in front of the seat is great but the transmission tunnel seems to interfere with the way your steal bracket is mounting. could you possibly post a couple more pics of the actual assembly in the car with out the actual extinguisher? thank you

yip thats what hapepned to me. I didnt want to take off my seatbelt because it was the only thing holding me from falling on my head hehe. Was heaps of glass everywhere so didnt want to use my hands that much on the carpet..

ya i was actualy gonna post up a few days ago hehe

I was at one of the phillip island track days and it was the last session of the day. And I was just chugging along on the warm up lap doing like 80-100km, I think maybe i was concerned with the car behind me for a second to long..

and then all of a sudden the car was heading off the track and into a metal fence, once it hit the grass ther was no stopping her. Anywho next to the fence there was like some little ditch/hill type thing and the and the car kinda went up that and rammed ito the start of the metal fence and flipped over sideways seems it wasnt balanced i guess. I was fine, just had a scratch on my arm. Ambulance ppl wanted me to goto hospital just incase, but sif goto some country hospital and get molested.

If if i was tall (im like 5'7) i would of had quite a few issues though... and if i had a passenger they would of been.. probs not with us anymore..

Saying all that though, 99% of the ppl on these forums goto track days heaps and havnt had any major problems :blink: You just need to be prepaired incase something does cause ya, it was an expensive weekend for me.. I didnt even bother asking shannons if i was covered :blink:

Track days are great fun, but can be very expensive.

My nemesis is Calder Park Rwy. I use to work there, so i have been around the track a few times, but every time i did a proper track day it has cost me at least $7K :blink:

1/ Damp cold track, last session of the day/night, after turn one applied too much power too early, rear tyres hit the mud and all i could do was watch the ass end come round and hit the concrete barrier.

2/ Last session of the day (again), blew the engine; cracked the piston ring-lands in cylinder 3

The only reason these repairs have exceeded $7k is because i didn't just repair the damage, but used the damage to justify substantial upgrades :blink:

Racing is expensive on normal days; tyres, brakes, fluids, wear & tear, etc. Add the misfortune of something critical going wrong, a fun day could go bad very quickly. All i say is if you love your car and really are keen to do track days, make sure you have some disposable savings, just in case of the worse scenario situation occurs.

i didnt go with sau though, went with MCCR club, ferni(satan) and a few others

if your abit worried you should look at the driver dynamic track days at sandown. Shannons insurance and a few others will aparantly insure you if you crash seems its "training".

yeah thanks, i am actually gonna have an instructor or do a driver training day first up, deffinatley not going out on my own just yet. was that your first day? had you had any track driver training before?

i had gone to a couple of driver dynamics days at sandown and a sau day at calder (but got scared cause it was raining so retired early). Also went to DECA like 5 times

Im pretty cautious when im driving, like i dont try set any records.. I think I just forgot to concentrate for a sec :blink:

Not at the track training days :blink:

They have reworded their policy. Shannons will only cover you if the training days are done to create road situations and improve your street driving skills. If you are doing full laps of the track or drift training, they will not cover you.

which corner was it? the fences are so far back at the island I'm impressed you both managed to hit them!

I've had a few big offs at Sandown but never hit anything... went straight on at turn 1 but pulled it up well before the fence

also went wide at the sweeper at the end of the back straight which was a bit worrying (turned in too late carrying too much speed), if you've been there you know there isn't much room... had to try and turn on the grass at about 150km/h which wasn't a great idea, made it back onto the black stuff though... with a few massive tank slappers trying to get the thing pointing straight again

always beware the last session of the day... the car is not the only thing you have to worry about getting tired!

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve. 
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
