You might be able to use the rear rotors of a R34 vspec 11 or 2001 on R34 GTR?, as they both run the larger rear rotor 324mm by memory, maybe machined down to suit

These bolt straight on to R32 and fit the existing handbrake,I have them on mine

When i was looking for rotors I'm pretty sure DBA dont sell the larger rears and Projectmu were the only option

Also while you can use tin snips to trim the guard I used a 100mm grinder with a thin cutiing disc.I wouldnt let a 9 inch anywhere near my ally hubs, those things should need a licence to use :)

Ronin what needs to be done to get the 350z rotors to fit?

You are making sense Ronin_09,

I guess they only way to really tell is to trial fit with a 316 x 20 rotor (if they exsist, I can't be stuff checking just now) to see if it fits...

Anyway, for those that are interested, below is the pics of the inside of the rotors.

BTW, front rotors have piston diameters of 40mm and 34mm and the rear rotors have a piston diameter of 30mm.

By way on comparison:

Bremo as fitted to R33's etc: 44 & 38mm dia pistons front, 40mm rear.

Sumitomo as fitted to R32's 40.4mm (all the same) front, 38mm rear.

So there is not much point using these WRX Brembos as they are too small in piston dia.

ronin's rear brakes are the 33/34 brembo calipers with Biot 3 piece rear rotors. fking awesome sexy piece of gear, but not for the light of wallet! I should know I sold it to him.

ronin truly is the asse of biot:

So i guess that's pretty much /thread, but is upgrading the rears a wank anyways? Risking told me that even with the standard rears and something like 360mm + chunky calliper at the front, he still has too much rear brake bias on his race car (or is that a special case)...

I have heard that too,yet no one seems to complain about the bias on the std 32 brakes and the rears are bigger than the front.

Bit of a strange question but how do you pronounce Biot?

Is it buy-ott or Bee-ohh :woot:

thanks

I am going to revive this thread as I have recently purchased a set of 05 STI callipers (front and rear) + rotors and will adapt it to my R32 GTR.

I will try to detail everything from additional parts to issues (and solutions) with installation and labouring costs which hopefully will help other people going down the same path.

I think this can be a successful alternative to purchasing other brembo brakes such as the R34 and R33 GTR brembos.

I am running 17inch BBS LM wheels with standard sumitomos but not for long.

Watch this space.

I also have a 94 R32 GTR and was wondering about fitting STI brembo calipers to the rear of my car. I have new rear Nissan Brembo rotors (300mm) and thought I could use those with the STI caliper, but reading this blog maybe not?

I hadnt thought of using STI calipers on the front. They certainly seem to be cheaper to buy than the equivalent Nissan Brembos.

I have new 328mm rotors for the front as used on the V Spec, so was looking for a dogbone that would allow the use of the standard GTR caliper with the upsized 328mm disc - does anyone know if these dogbones are available any where?

However if the STI calipers will go on the front with say a 355mm rotor that would be good. Please let us know how you go

    • Sorry to hear your HFM BM57 was faulty,  did you contact HFM I would hope they would be at least grateful for the information if there was some sort of manufacturing fault, you would hope they would be sympathetic even if your item was 2 years old if it had never been fitted. May I ask where it leaked from ?
    • Cats are called Bella, and Donna...  Like that poisonous plant And I remember your 2 monsters, I remember making a little bit of wee when you let them out... LOL I have already installed cat doors into the laundry where their kitty litter is, and the sun room, apart from the cat doors there's not going to be any permanent mounted stuff on the interior walls (interior doors are cheap and easy to replace) I will get a outdoor cat cage thingie once I finish the landscaping out back... https://catnip.com.au/ The only off limit areas are the main bedroom and the gym room....but, currently the cats are curled up in bed, in the main bedroom with the Mrs.....LOL, the off limits for the kittens to the main bedroom lasted about 5 minutes with Jackie I currently only have 1 free standing huge cat tree multiple level scratching post thingie in the lounge room, but, I will be getting another one soon now that I'm happy with the furniture layout in the back room and have a perfect spot for it
    • All of this is making it seem clear that running the Coppermix twin was definitely the way to go, especially in hindsight with how insane tariffs have gotten and the strength of the USD vs yen at the time.
    • That sounds like no chance of even importing one for road registering then Now I see why Duncan wants to check LHD rules for Targa...   I wonder how "bolt in" the AWD would be if you got one imported from the US and swapped it to an AUD one
