Haha!!

Yeah it's shit IMO. Its not a Corvette...

As for the Toyota Soarer I would rather see them with Toyota badges on and for the S15, I would rather the Silvia badge then the 200SX.

JDM FTW!

i dont think people put those badges on and think "you lil rippa got me self a corvette"

i think that majority put it on because it attracts more attention than the holden badge and some are just monkey see monkey do's or maybe the opposite??

the lS1's are a chev, the 6 litre LS2 and L98's are also chev's. If they have a chev motor in it, why not put a chev badge on it, I am not really getting the problem here, if they have a 5 litre then that is gay, the V6 is a buick V6 not a chev so also gay.

They also sell the GTO coupe in america as a 'chev'

I agree ....dont mind so much If it is actually a Ls series engine as they are chev engines but it is the morons you see in V6 commonwhores sporting them that really annoy me....the best thing to do is blatantly laugh and or ask them which part is Chevrolet ( best done when all their mates are in the car ) this usually gets a bit of a stunned mullet look along with some unintelligable ( spelling ) muttering...

Only one thing worse

GTS's with GTR BADGES - each time I see one I want to get out the screw driver and remove it for them.

I'd like to see the opposite just for kicks eg., guy debadges his Lexus LS600 and puts a Toyota badge on it :P Way to instantly shave off $100k of your car value, Mr Camry driver. Or a Lambo debadged to Audi... (audi engines)

Personally I couldn't care less what people badge their car as. No-one would really mistake it for what it is, and it makes for a good laugh. We have it fine here. You should go to the streets of SE asia, where Ferrari/Lambo/Merc badges are a dime a dozen from street sellers and guys have hundreds of the things all over their scooters or Ladas lol.

ive seen one with a Lexus badge on the back and a Toyota badge on the front.

LOL

what i dont get is if they wanted a corvette so bad why not just get 1? alot of these commos are late model VE maloos, clubbys etc which i think cost like 50K+ so its not like they cant afford a few year old corvette...

I'm guessing it's a pain in the ass to import and convert them to RHD. Not sure of the intricacies of getting a LHD permit, but I'm guessing it would also be a pain in the ass.

You know, for the record, HSV Clubbies and GTS are marketed in the middle east as CSV's (Chevrolet Special Vehicles) - I see tonnes of them (HSV Factory is just down the road)

Does that make the entire middle east tryhards?

That being said, back home i did once see a rodeo de-badged and replaced with a ford badge. Problem was, it was the model rodeo that didn't have the lion insignia, rather the word 'holden' across the front, and so in thick black plastic, it still said 'holden' just with a blue oval over the L and D.

is anyone else getting a tad over seeing commos on the road with chevy rear/front badges?

fark theres more holdens with chevy badges here than there are actual chevys in america!!

are they factory optioned or something?

i know its coz of the v8 engines in holdens but theyre GM engines, theyre not built by chevrolet they just happen to be used in them aswell

arent the americans meant to be the "less educated" ones? i bet if you went over there you wouldnt see a single corvette with holden badges on...

ive decided to get a 2jz transplant and stick toyota badges on my car. screw this shit :P

/end rant

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shits me to tears, get over it muppets! :D :D

I don't care WHAT engine you're running, you don't see Audi S6's running around with Lamborghini badges just because they use the V10 - the is no excuse, it's a HOLDEN - :ermm:

Is a valiant with a mopar sticker ok, if it isnt to bad.

Why wouldn't it be?

Chrysler Valiant... mopar are Chrysler branded performance products and also an accepted nickname for Chrysler, Dodge and plymouth cars

I've owned many hot vals over the years, maybe 10+ and used to wear my Mopar t-shirt with pride. Wish I still owned most of them, some nice steel.

Mopar madness FTMFW!

From what I heard from Clarkson the other day i'm suprised nobodies spotted a 350z with renault badges on it....I mean why wouldn't you.

So Cooool!

Lexus Soarer ... Toyota Soarer ? any different ?

i've seen Toyota Soarer..... then a few months later same car has Lexus tags on them

I just saw a Soarer near my house with badges that looked neither like Toyota nor Lexus, it looked like a Pegasus... :D

As for the Commo Chevy badges, I don't really care as I don't bother to notice them at all, they all appears to be a bunch of common Camrys to me.

I think its a Lion with Wings on it..?

Hence the name Soarer (to Soar/Fly high in the sky) well in this case fly fast down the road...

Some metaphor...

LOL! I'm just guessing. :)

    • It was a great, but typical track day, and some VB was ingested at the night time debrief 🤪
    • And so, to round this out, I couldn't be happier to confirm @MBS206 has decided to buy the car. He drove down from sunny QLD with a trailer last week and it is off to its new home today. I'll let Matt confirm on next steps but I understand broadly that the plan is to leave it pretty much as is, and just get some quality wheel time with a nicely balanced car that is pretty much track ready. There are a few a jobs still to be done first but nothing too major and I think its a very smart buy Dinner last night at the Paragon with a round of VBs (mostly) for Neil
    • Well, 50 pages and the end of a chapter for this car. We took it out for a shakedown at Wakie yesterday, and everything went well. There were a couple of niggles: - Oil cooler fitting leak - tightened, cleaned, stopped leaking - Radiator cap overflow fitting was leaking....Mark called it, the overflow fitting was threaded in and not tight....tightened, tested and held pressure - Small oil leak at the rear of the block, probably the turbo oil feed - too hot to get at it comfortably but probably just needs to be nipped up - leak at the driver's side rear brake line where it meets the hardline. Fitting wasn't loose, so Matt backed it off and back on, no further leaks - there's also a leak somewhere on the top of the fuel tank, maybe that cross over fuel line - that was has been left to fix when its on a hoist Otherwise than those niggles the car went great, turned great and stopped great so it was a very successful day out. I'm always really nervous when a car first hits the track after a long break, especially with a brand new engine as well but it was great. VID-20251011-WA0007.mp4  Big thanks to @The Bogan who dropped by and helped out, @MBS206 and my nephew Lachlan the apprentice.  Neil's wife Mel also surprised the hell out of all of us by dropping by; she's up in Tamworth these days but was travelling to Melbourne so had plausible deniability for turning up at the garage, it was great to see her but also obviously a bit sad all round.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
