I am thinking of getting a 34GTT, AT maybe....

If i sold my Audi TT...

Will I be disappointed with the At box? Should I just go for MT?

I m new to skyline. But love the power since tried my mate's GTT sedan MT.

Thanks

Depends what you want the car for mate. Auto is fine for cruising and squeezing it here and there, manual for the track.

i cant speak for all tiptronic gtt's but i have one and i really like it. not too slow either.

all ive done chuck an r32 turbo actuator, removed converter, apexi pod and ive timed it at 0-100 in 5.8.

cant wait to get turbo back exhaust and fmic and tune. woohoo just do it mate. great for cruizing too

in saying that i want to do a manual conversion one day so if you can easily afford the manual then do that bro.

manual for street/track racing

tiptronic for cruizing/street

i have had a test drive with an AT. The car is not in very good condition IMO.

but the AT box did really impress me. It was quite responive, pretty quick for up/down shifts.

I will probably go for a AT GTT. I am a bit tired of MT...want to be lazy fun to drive.

But do u guys know if the AT box can handle 400whp?! Or i need MT box for a MOD car?!...

Thanks

how much would your audi TT sell for?

as you didnt mention which model you have......

id personally wouldnt bother with any GT-T either manual or auto...

if you get decent amount back....id save and get the GT-R R34......ull never look back

but i would personally prefer the R33 GT-R over the newer R34 GT-T any day...

eeiko,

im happy to let it go around 31k.

Thatz 2000 TT Quattro Convertible

31,000$......

what made you want the R34 GT-T?

The R33 GTR looks much more aggressive, although the engine is going to be dated. if properly tuned the performance compared to the GT-T is worlds apart.

I have an Auto (was at the top of my budget, couldn't go manual). It's a good box with nice gear changes and the tiptronic feature is great for dropping a gear. The only thing I don't like is that it's only 4spd, could use another gear. Much easier for cruising round the city though. Depends what you like doing.

ive heard that the r33 gearbox can hold up to 200rwkw just fine. dnt no about the r34 tho.

im really happy with my gtt even if im finding it a bit underpowered. but thats all the fun of modding :D

although i totally agree that if you can afford an r34 gtr DO IT!!!

if i had the money i would hav in a heart beat

i will never understand the people that buy automatic sports cars

why? nothing wrong with automatic....

well, i would never understand people that buy GT-T or GTS-Ts or GTS skylines or any other cheap skyline and not a GT-R either..

see?

because having an automatic sports car defeats the purpose of having a sports car

unless you just want to look cool, and don't actually care about the whole driving experience

and the reason people buy gts skylines is because they cant afford gtr's or the maintenance costs associated with them, or they aren't legally allowed to drive them

exactly.....

the GTS-t or GT-T is just a cheap version of a GT-R of a GT-R wanabe driver...

some people cant drive manual.............

ive known people who buy auto sports cars to let their family members drive it also whom cant drive a manual.

and the reason people buy gts skylines is because they cant afford gtr's or the maintenance costs associated with them, or they aren't legally allowed to drive them

like you said...."dont care about driving the whole driving experience"

well having a GT-T isnt worth having because its NOTHING like a GT-R so either you should buy a REAL thing or buy nothing at all.......

see dude.......

theres nothing wrong with automatic some people even prefer it......

people can say the same about YOUR car dude.........................................

my r34 is auto and i love it. main reasons are because i wanted it as a daily driver and i deal with some heavy traffic most of the time. and if i start making it faster than the clutch is going to be harder and harder and it will drive me nuts, considering i had an accident a while ago resulting in having a bad leg and wouldnt be able to keep the clutch pressed in it hurts too much after a long period of time.

I suppose a difference down the track would be trying to sell it, A/T R34's don't sell too well, if you buy an A/T R34 try get it the the factory aero so it will be easier to sell. Maybe i just love the factory aero R34's lol i'm looking for a NA R34 now and i cant seem to settle for anything less.

from this thread i've come to the conclusion that eeiko321 is a total knob jockey

as for Vincent, i strongly suggest you just go and test drive an auto GTT, manual GTT and a GTR R33

you'll easily be able to make up your mind because not only do they have different motors, capabilities etc.

they're also two totally different cars to drive/own/maintain and they're all the things you factor when buying a car, even the interior may be a huge factor for some people and the R33 GTR interior is of course not as nice as the R34 GTT interior as it's not as modern etc.

i agree with the comment for sports cars and auto's - sometimes doesn't make sense because if it did then you would see Auto GTR's, S2000's, STi and EVO's etc.

and as to why people don't buy GTR's instead of the cheaper versions of the Skyline

only a complete idiot wouldn't understand that sometimes laws don't allow for those cars to be driven, nor do budgets and just because some people can afford to buy or own certain cars, doesn't mean they deserve to or even know how to drive them

that's my input on this thread and i don't plan on turning this into an argument so let's let Vincent get back to it and help him decide which car to buy

my opinion, R33 GTR or MT GTT

i had this dilemma before i bought my GTT but i also had EVO VI in the equation but i didn't get a VI because my brother had a TME and i didn't want to be a copycat, now i've decided to sell up and get a TME as well as they're awesome cars

would you ever consider buying an EVO?

haha my2c

Andrew

    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
