Depends on how easily you want to access it doesnt it?

If you REGULARLY track the car, then the passengers side of the tranny tunnel works.

Or make up a bracket that bolts to the same location of the front 2 bolts for your drivers seat. That way you can reach it without undoing your seat belt... IF the worst happens hehe.

I have been contemplating the same thing. I think im going to mount mine behind the kick panel in the boot. (R33)

only prob with the mounting near the seat is if you wanna roll it forward it gets in the way :P would be perfect tho...

might be a dumb question but it wouldnt be a good idea to mount it near a sub would it...otherwise i have the perfect spot :P

This is true, but i never adjust my seat anyway. Its at the furthermost bask position haha. The short f**kers can piss off :P

I dont see any reason why you couldnt mount it on near the sub? But if you are worried it could be an idea to call the extinguisher company just to be safe.

Mine is mounted behind the drivers seat on the little panel underneath the rear seat where the bolt goes into. Nice neat spot that doesn't get in the way and fairly easy to reach.

did you make up a bracket for it or does it just use the one seat bolt?

If you searched, you would see my thread I started...

I could still reach it while in my bucket seat. It had been passed by scruitineering in alot of events I did, cause one of the requirements is it needs to be within reach of the driver while still being in the seat. This is for doing track days though

:D

Mine?

Want to buy it? :P LOL

Cheers Josh, Its a good spot, even though I didnt have the back seat in, others have and it still worked a treat

but just remember, if you do plan on doing track days, ya gotta be able to reach it from drivers seat! Oh, and they normally expire after a year too!

yeah, ended up mounting it behind the drivers seat, can easily reach around and unclip and grab it :(

i wanna buy your side skirts more than anything ;) craving em so bad

good thing its got a charge meter then ey.

  • 1 month later...

I just moved my extinguisher to a different position. I'm just after comments to see if it is a good place for it or not.

img2240.th.jpg

I used to have it behind the passenger seat, but when I got my Sparco Sprint V and harness, I found that I could no longer reach it without undoing my harness (I'm under the impression that CAMS like you to be able to grab your extinguisher without undoing your seatbelt/harness, if this isn't true I might just move it back :D )

The extinguisher is held onto a 3mm aluminium plate by a M6 screw into a tapped hole with a nut on the other side and a high tensile M8 bolt going through the aluminium into the side mounting point of the seat. The aluminium plate is held on with two M8 high tensile bolts, one of which holds the extinguisher bracket onto the aluminium plate. In short, I think it will take some force to get it to move :D

Here I can grab the extinguisher without undoing my harness, providing the door is open. I can still access the boot/fuel cap release, again only with the door open lol

So yeah... flame away ;)

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
