Heya im new here so plz be kind!

I own a 1990 A31 Cefiro RB25DET. Its pretty much a stock engine with current mods including:

Internally stock

Blitz pod filter

HKS 3" turbo back exhaust

Walbro 255l/h fuel pump

I also have a HDi FMIC kit on the way that will be fitted within the next week or so.

Other mods will include Splitfire coils, D1 Spec VSD IV Ignition booster system and a good tune once its all fitted.

I'm not looking for big power gains as my cefiro is a daily driver so i wanna keep response and drivability in mind.

I just want to know if the Garrett GT2860R (http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarre...0R_707160_5.htm) is any good for an upgrade on my RB25DET ceffy?

Any info, opinions or specs would be much appreciated!

gday mate, welcome to the forums.

everyone is going to tell you to look at this thread:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...yno-t55845.html

it has dyno results for rb25s with all kinds of turbos etc.

so decide your power goal and have a squiz at what other people are running.

good luck

Ric

The GT2860RS will not have enough flow for an RB25 running 12psi. It will be at it's absolute limit and although it will be able to run 12psi through the midrange it will taper off to 9psi or so at limiter. And yes you will need to get a T3 housing machined to fit.

I'd go for something like a GT3071R or an HKS GT-RS which will bolt on to your stock manifold and will be a good match for the engine running 18psi.

For the record, at 12psi an RB25 with a stock redline will be needing approximately 38lb/min or 545cfm of air and at 18psi it will be needing 47lb/min or 670cfm. Use these values to select an appropriate turbo off the Garrett website.

It would be a good turbo for a super responsive 200-220rwkw...

A 2530's is basically treated as a swap-out style turbo for the stocker... makes a tad more power, without the risk of a wheel shitting itself and more boost, making it all nice and snappy :)

If only it came with the right flange though, it's not worth machining housings to suit

depends on what you wanna spend.... if you are happy to limit yourself to say 230rwkw you can just get a highflow from gcg and keep stock injectors and afm. you will want a computer to run the show however a piggyback will manage... just

if i had my time again with an rb25 i'd probably go this route and see how much i could squeeze out of a highflow, stock injectors and e85...

although i am very happy with the current setup.... just not how much it all cost...

the next project i'm undertaking is an SR20det ke70 with stock everything barring computer and my old 33 turbo... on e85 so i spose that'll be close enough

if you are willing to pay the $$$ for injectors/afm/ecu/clutch/fuelpump/ then a gtrs/2835pros/3071/3076 setup will see you to the high 200's

200 - 230rwkw?

just get yourself a high flow.

bolt straight up to your standard manifold, and usually have great response

cost effective option

Ok. What exactly do they mod when you get a high flow done? And,

how much $$ for a high flow usually?

cause i can get a GT2860R for under $900...

Can any one tell me if the VG30 turbo is any good for a high flow?

I heard there a direct bolt up...?

The one im loking at has the op6 rear housing.

Any specs on this tubro would also help i.e BB, ceramic or steel wheel?????

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
