Gday.

It seems a lot of people are interested in music so I thought Id ask a couple of the Mods if I could start a new thread.

Containing music and all its elements. Production. Youtube songs. Instruments you play. Shows you've been to etc etc.

Keep it positive and on track and this thread will be fine

Nice to see a thread started....

My username and avatar come from my most recently acquired guitar.... a Tokai Talbo (Tokai Aluminium Body)

The above is a pic of my Talbo where it doesn't look as white as it really is....

what a top thread

this is some of my gear i currently play with.i love building and fixing guitars so if anyone needs repairs hit me up.i built most of the guitars i have from scratch, all are custom set-up style for my preferances and all have a rather vast sound to them.

guitars as follows

2006 epiphone sheraton II(only guitar purchased in store complete)

1966 framus all custom(starcaster neck,aria humbuckers)

198# mustang copy (japanese built),harmony neck,custom hard wired,hand wound P90s

mid 1960's cavalier semi acoustic(same shape as Paul McCartney's (early beatles era)bass)

early 1990's stratocaster copy with jackson pollock/stone roses paintjob

plus a few more in pieces!

pedals-

ibanez tubescreamer

mid 1970s russian big muff

boss ds-1

boss cs-2 compression sustainer

fender tuner

marshall bluesbreaker

and a VOX AC-15 custom classic(wharfedale speaker)

and i record thro an old tascam 4track recorder and pearl mics(nothing hi-tech about it at all)

keep rocking and/or rolling

How much did you pay for pro tools Talbo ? Ive had a look at it. But It was pirated and didn't work properly.

I know it costs an arm and a leg.

I use Sony soundforge 8. Fruity loops studio , producers edition. have played with acid pro etc.

Would love an old synth machine tho. how hard are they to hook up to the comp ?

i dont mind this dubstep stuff now ay. when i first heard it, my first impression was this shit is just noise...

my mate who has just returned to adl from living in the UK for 5 years loves it, he's brought some ds vinyl back with him, gotta get him round my joint one of these weekends for a mixup. back to back with his dubstep and my crate full of breaks, few beers, should be awesome

I've been to the Tiesto concert in Melbourne... that was epic.

damn i would kill to go there... too bad didnt have time/money :P ...

im going to ibiza one day to see him live... anyone else planning to go there?

Yeah mate. same,

Its really a style of music where you need a good stereo setup. You play it on desktop speakers or something and it just sounds like ping pong.

I'm having a dubstep night tonight actually. few beers in. waiting for mates to rock up. better hurry or ill be into the beers to heavy :P

You should head to the next dubstep show. Last one was massive. UK dj named SEVEN came and his style and technicality was impressive. very loud too.

I got the 003R sent form the USA (much cheaper than it was here) about 2 years ago, don't remember what I paid cause I sold my old 001 at the same time.

Pro Tools LE won't work without Digidesign hardware and Pro Tools M Powered required selected M Audio hardware. Probably the cheapest option would be finding a second hand M Audio Audiophile 24/96 or 192.

Connecting a synth to the computer is simple too, for data you connect it via MIDI either to your sound card or USB. If you're going to go the Pro Tools route, try to stay away from the USB interfaced devices. Firewire devices are much more stable/reliable for use with digi hardware or any ASIO compatible hardware.

Was thinking of heading here http://forums.ozreggae.com/index.php?showtopic=12063

Just to see this massive sound system. Will sound very nice. Cant have a massive one tho. mates bday tomorrow

whaaaaaat!!!! man i wish that was promoted a little better, if we knew about this we would have definitely come along! i've been telling my mate there that we get a few dubsteb shows happening around the traps lately.

i remember the first one that caught my attention was Benga, and apparently it went off!

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
