Had a ridiculously good time yesterday!! Thanks to all the organisers for another perfect day. Thanks to Ando especially for the good key tips that shaved up my times --very happy mate!!! :P

Bring on the next one.

Ian, champ you did absolutley awesome! You had it down pat before i jumped in... just need some 'fine tuning' Wakefield is a great track to 'push the envolope' as such as it rewards you well with times when you give it about 90%! Hitting into the 1:14's is nothing to be sneezed at, well done mate!

As i said before we left, get to OP GP!! By far one of the best tracks, fast, technical, flowing, everything you could ask from a track!

ok here is a couple of videos from yesterday.

still editing some others so will try put more up soon

whoever had the white 33 with the plates GEE 33R you should watch the last one. it has a few laps of me behind you.

after going through my videos and timing my laps via that way. my quickest was a 1:16 which i am rather pleased with considering it was my first track day ever and on street tyres

Looks like I am the last one to say thanks, but thats to ALL for an awesome day.

All my mates hear now is "track day this... and track day that..." and they are sick of me talking about my track day already! HAHAHAHA

But i had so much fun. Was so different to go there with a club and not just randoms like i do normally.

Was great to meet the whole gang and finally put some faces to the Usernames and Avatar pictures!!!!

Cheers to chubbs for hand timing me to pull a 1:14 flat...... pretty dam stoked with that, with more mods to come, looking forward to the next day already..

THANKS AGAIN ALL!!!

Oh yeah and it was a race against time to get home on my semi slicks before the storm, just got home and them BOOM down came the rain and thunderstorm. Plus there was flooding in eastern suburbs, looked insane!!!

Good track day for me, despite a number of issues with the car... popping out of third gear was one, the shower of fuel from my tank breather hose was another. Sorry to the open-top guys who got a faceful. Fatz timed a couple of laps for me and reckons I did 1:12.97 which I certainly hope to improve on when the suspension (and other things) are sorted. Abo I hope you enjoyed watching my spin into turn one hehe. Also thanks to Mr Cass for minding my bag. Nearly had to buy a new toothbrush...

Man I wish I had a working car... You kids had so much fun!

Thank you to everyone that spent many hours organising the event, even though I didn't get to drive I'll be at the next one... for sure.

So jealous of all of your lower control arms, lol.

^^

haha, that was me. I saw you had a smile on your face and after the wave new it was all good.

Just got back from Canberra after heading down again this morning i am officially dead tired!

I also found out what my massive shuddering was any time i tapped the breaks on the way home - cracked rear right rotor. Given their condition I'm not too surprised, and gives me a good reason to upgrade i suppose :-)

    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
    • What sold me on Trailer Park Boys is this scene: Great stuff, just stay clear from the new Netflix production.
