going on last meet, yes. though that was my first so....was a great day chasing down the wrx rookies :D

Interested, would have been great if they were using an AASA permit, then I wouldn't have to buy a CAMS license ;)

Probably time I should buy one....

So 4 * 8min runs even for the driver training group? And after say 3pm to 4pm its a little more open or....? Never been to a club track day.

I've done Sandown once with the driver dynamics group, and Winton during a fun day, but I'm only running some average street tyres and think the driver training might be a good idea...

No they will not do licenses on the day - you will need to organise it beforehand.

You have plenty of time to get it sorted out, so shouldnt be a problem.

A word of advice though, dont leave it till the last minute - these things do take a little time to organise.

You'll also need to make sure your SAU Vic membership card is up to date.

Sent off CAMS registration today via mail, faxed off the driver training entry form to the WRX club and organised the $$$.

Anyone else doing driver training?

Didn't want to slow more experienced members down on the track :)

Can anyone enlighten me on the "in Victoria" bit of the section of the Supp Regs quoted below ? I'm thinking of coming down from NSW, am a member of two CAMS affiliated clubs in NSW, and hold an L2S licence with one of those clubs. Surely I don't need to join a Victorian club as well ?

I emailed the "motorsport" address listed on the website of the WRX club a fortnight ago with the same question but haven't yet received a reply.

All drivers must hold a current CAMS Level 2S licence or higher and be a financial member of a Club

affiliated with CAMS in Victoria.

Looks like im going to have to miss this one too :P

Exam on the Monday

My exams are thankfully over by then. Hopefully it's not raining so we get a decent day like the last one. By the end of it I'd cooked my brakes because of nearly 40 laps of punishment.

I queried this on your behalf and was given the below response:

I thought Colleen had covered this!! Obviously not.

As long as he has a L2S Licence and proof of his affiliation then I am sweet with it.

Hey mate

I'll be dragging the R33 out for it's first run on the track and doing the driver training as I'm a noob!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one... Are you running an R33 also? What mods have you done?

Mine is stock turbo and ECU pulling 200+rwkw and I'm keen to see how it goes up against other R33/34s.

See ya there

R33 GTR, as per my sig, don't want to high-jack the discussion with my car specs/mods/et cetera

The WRX thread on this is here no entry list yet :D

    • The final part arrived today to un-clampify and simplify the intake Who would have though a 1/2" hose stainless bulkhead fitting designed for below waterline bilge pumps would be what I needed Test fit on a 3" offcut I had laying around to see if it would work, and it worked a treat All going well the intake will be on its "final version" tomorrow
    • Good luck on the weekend mate
    • Must have been an absolute nightmare to drive when the power steer was out, the rack ratio/wheel size/caster is all set up for power assistance
    • Welcome to SAU, what are you looking at buying?
    • I checked the injectors again (1 and 2, since they’re easiest to access) to make sure they weren’t clogged. Even though the entire fuel system had been cleaned, I wanted to be certain. Everything looked clean, so I reinstalled and connected everything. When I started the car to confirm everything was okay, it immediately revved up high, so I shut it off straight away. I checked to see if I’d missed a vacuum hose or something, but everything was connected. On the second attempt, the car ran without the high idle, but I noticed a distinct “compressed air” sound coming from the engine bay. Tracing the sound, I pushed injector #6 forward slightly and the noise stopped — it turned out it wasn’t seated properly, despite the fuel rail being bolted down. While holding it in place, the car idled steadily without stalling and ran for over 5 minutes. At this point, I pulled all six injectors out just in case I hadn’t seated them correctly or dirt had gotten onto the O-rings. Unfortunately, I discovered that I had damaged 3 out of 6 injectors (the OEM 270cc ones) during installation. So yes, this was my fault. Since only the pintle caps were damaged, I’ve ordered a Fuel Injector Service Kit from NZEFI to refurbish them. In the meantime, I reinstalled my new injectors – the car now idles fine for over 15 minutes without stalling. I have not attempted to drive it so far. It’s not perfect yet, as it hesitates when the throttle is pressed, but it’s a big improvement. Unplugging the IACV with the new injectors idles at around 800rpm, even with the IACV screw tightened fully. But this is probably due to tune.
